    Upgrading Shifting on v20c

...(I got 10-52, but I am a sucker for range, I even got a 9-45 for a 20" folding recumbent.) Of course you could also go for a bomb proof Rohloff Speedhub internal gear hub. :D (Most efficient gear hub, but still not quite as efficient as a derailleur.) There are many great choices and many...

    Rohloff speedhub

...performance, the typical V20c rider would likely opt for road racing oriented drivetrains. There has been some discussion about using a Rohloff on S40, and Q series bikes. I used a Shimano IGH on a T50 for a couple of years before switching to a conventional drivetrain. It worked just fine...

    Vendetta V 2.0 for sale: asking $2,100

Congrats on the Bulk purchase! I got a QV with a Rohloff 14 speed IGH and 250 watt assist. More on the Chevy suburban side of Velomobiles vs your Porsche 911 much lighter Bulk. I got it as a car replacement vehicle, which it does well. Also, it corners like it's on rails. Are you in the North...

    Efneo gearbox

@bentinitalia I have a dual drive with about 200 miles on it that I just took off a Q20 (my father's before he got too sick to ride). I considered building a bike Friday with it, but it sounds like it would be better on your S40. $ 200+ shipping if you want it. It's currently laced with...

    Efneo gearbox

...still available. Some really fine products get put out to make room for slicker high-tech components. It's a shame. I also considered the Rohloff Speedhub, but it requires some minor mods to make it work/fit that I didn't feel confident to manage, plus the cost (although it may be well worth it).

Does anyone else have a design Wishlist for the next model of Q series?

may be easier, but I guess that the Rohloff designer would calculate every bit (proper "German" or "Swiss" way of construction).

...of jumping through the hoops is just not worth it unless there are a large number of people who want to go down that route. We had to get a Rohloff test kit and take measurements which we had to submit them to Rohloff before they would sell us the A12 through axle model. It really added to...

...the existing, but a more ergonomic (e.g. lumbar or shoulder support) plus ventilated design wouldn't do any harm. On my up I do have and love Rohloff, but I think it's too heavy plus Rohloff torque support (stiffer or heavier frame). 50-559 with Schwalbe Big Ben or Continental Contact Urban...

Does anyone else have a design Wishlist for the next model of Q series?

I started with a Q559 with a SRAM dual drive and thought that was front heavy. What would a Rohloff be like? The stock seat is very basic in shape. Maybe they figure we’re just going to change it anyway? An easier system to change the angle (some kind of QR) to make easy changes on long rides.

Bret is correct about the Rohloff hub and Gates belt. We toured Europe (mostly Italy, Austria and Slovenia) on a couple of Q45s with Rohloff hubs and Gates belts. They were fantastic. The gear ratio we used was determined by the chainstay length and it suited us well. We are slow riders who...

The point you made about internal gear hub vs BB gearbox makes a ton of sense. A hub would probably work better for the Q45’s design.

...a bit of data showing they can provide lower rolling resistance as well. Some folks here in Perth worked with Quantum Bicycles here to put a Rohloff and Gates belt on a Q45. They are/were touring in Europe last I know, but I had a look before they went. The coincident wheel axis and...

...especially in poor weather and chains last longer too. I've had Alfine 8, Alfine 11 and SA 8 on bikes and trikes and ridden a friends Rohloff. I think the Q45 is a good candidate, but I would use a hub rather than add the weight of a crank/BB gearbox on the end of an already heavy boom. It...

    Diatech Headset Adjustment

...which has two holes anti-clock wise (with the help of a 5mm allen key (the round side in order not to spoil the 5mm holes). Why aren't here any diagramms like the ones from other good brands like HP recumbent or Rohloff plus numbers for the torque (Newton meter), which would make things clear???

    2023 S40?

Well put. It really comes down to preference. 1 x 12 is great on my mtb. and gravel bikes. Never have I missed a front derailleur less. But on the V, two chainrings is a must for me. On a long, flat ride I will toggle mostly between a 52-13, 14, 15 as I encounter slight undulations and...

    2023 S40?

For a long time my only bike was my Grasshopper with a Rohloff. Then I got a Silvio. The most annoying thing was going back to Disraeli gears. Then I got Sram XX1. I found that, free from the double chainwheel, I hardly missed the IHG. The double chainwheel is the worst thing about Disraeli...

    Regret buying Thor seat?

...bike magician) reckons he can fabricate a bracket that will allow the seat to have variable positions. Aldo has just done a mammoth job converting our two Q45s to Rohloff with Gates belts so he's a bit of an expert. I'll message you to see if we can set a time so you can check out the Thor.
