    Recumbent Cycle-Con...Oct 6-8 2017

Hello? @Lucia? @Maria Parker? @Jim Parker ? Paul Gallagher (Xshifter) posted to his facebook page that he is looking for somebody to display his product at Interbike (Sept 20-22). Yah, nobody recumbent will be there...but I would suggest that Cruzbike contact him for a unit to display at RCC...

    Be careful out there...

I chose not to ride our local century (Sept 17), for a variety of reasons. Miz Diane and I drove the course the weekend before the ride and it was quite a bit more hilly than advertised ("FLAT METRIC"...right.) and the more I saw of the course, the more I felt like I simply wasn't ready to do...

    XShifter...new wireless shifting option

This just showed up on BROL. http://www.bikerumor.com/2016/09/26/xshifter-brings-wireless-electronic-shifting-bike-derailleur/ Looks pretty cool. At that price point, I'd be interested in trying it out. http://xshifter.com/

Innovators, a better part is needed!

This weekend I upgraded my shift/brake cabling all around. Much happiness with that. However, one issue I have been having isn't completely solved to my satisfaction. The FD shifting is better (since I replaced the kinked cable/housing) but that little sheave up front that routes the cable 180...

    SRAM brifters, rear D, etc...

Ok, attempting to gather goodies for the impending Vendetta here...need some help. I would like to run the 11-36 cassette if I can...but SRAM site sez it is only compatible with the 1x medium-cage derailleur (or the long)...and the 1x shifters (presumably). I'm looking at the Rival 22 group...

    Uh oh...V20 back in stock!

Received email a few minutes ago from someone called "Cruzbike", V20 is back in stock. Great, now I won't be able to sleep nights...until mine arrives. ;) I need to speed up my accumulation of goodies, apparently. Have cranks (Rotor 3D24 compact road, 165) Have BB (Enduro XD-15 "road") Have...

    V20 a reward of rewards

Thanks Ratz, I posted the same question (and mentioned the forum, etc.) to Chris but got an "out of office" reply...they're all gone for the week. When I order, I'll make sure I request the right stackup of washers. Much appreciated info. Not only is the V on backorder (July delivery expected)...

    Fixie Conversion finally completed!!!

Hi gang, I haven't posted here for a while... Well, since I bought a V2/K frame (I forget...some time ago). I've had my old "Mongoose" frame and fork just sitting around. When I converted to the V2/K frame, I also went 700c so the old frame/fork also still had both 26" wheels, brakes, etc...

Optimized tire pressures = improved handling

Interesting article. Thanks for posting that. I usually run tire pressures about 10psi below max...which, according to the chart is pretty close to optimum for me and my current set-up. I do much of what the article says...except I just do it by trial and error.

For fun: those yellow "curve ahead" signs

IIRC, those signs post "recommended safe speed" rather than a "limit". I go as fast as I can thru them...when the tires start sliding, I back off a bit.

    Conversion advice please

I think the top tube is way too high. The front edge of the seat on the conversion needs to be quite close to the head-tube...like within 3 or 4 inches (unless you have quite long legs). Nice bike though.

    Fast Century

Great report, Mark. Last Cent. I did (2006), I averaged 13mph. The peloton @ the Clarksville "Sunrise Cent" do it over 25mph average (3:44:55 for last year's course-record run). I've got a long way to go before I can keep up! :P

    Strange ride...strange results...

Follow up from the LBS... Bike Guru sez: "Oh, I have a set of those wheels on my Surly...they probably weren't properly tensioned from the factory, I'll fix 'em for you, no problem. $30 charge to re-tension/re-true and new nipples all around." Nice to have a friendly and customer-oriented bike...

    Air Shock Boot

While there is nothing you can do about it now (other than repair or replacement), it is a good idea to treat exposed rubber stuff with a protective coating. Most over-the counter tire treatments can be used but look for one that has no petroleum products (typically the aerosol propellant or...

Sofrider spotted in Florida bike shop

Hmmm...we're headed to Orlando in April (for a week). I wonder if the shop he visited would rent it out? There are a number of nice "rail-to-trail" rides in central Florida and I'm planning to hit at least one or two while we're there.

    Best Question Yet

Love it. Kids are honest, they speak their mind...good, bad or indifferent. You should have challenged him for Pinks...not that you need a skateboard.

    Summer Vacations

We're headed for Orlando in April (no, not to Dizzyworld) and I intend to ride the Withlacoochee trail on whatever rental recumbent they have available. The trail is about 50mi long and reportedly quite nice. That reminds me, I sent an email off to Suncoast bicycles last week and never got a...
