    serial #

Hi Neiil, I found the serial # for my Silvio on a decal on the seat pan. The seat pads are attached by velcro strips and should be removable. Check under the pads, you may find the same decal. Can not say when these frames were built, but it has not been too long ago. Larry

Hello Chris, As you know everything in life is negotiable, except "the time" we die. Send me an e-mail (mr2 at iquest dot net) with questions or offers. I have been riding recumbents since early 2008, due to a traumatic dislocation of my thumb causing neurological damage to the left hand. The...

    L.A. Velodrome

Mark, Good to hear you enjoyed the track ride. Here are some HPV records, many of which were set by recumbents on velodrome tracks. http://www.recumbents.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1410&whichpage=1 I would like to draw your attention to the first posting for the "standing start Kilometer...

    Sprinting

Staying on topic of SPRINTING, I tried 2 techniques tonight. The group ride was 30 miles and the front pack tends to average around 24mph. I led out to be a rabbit for them to chase and holding 21-22mph, they needed 6-8 miles to catch me, so I had quite a time trial leading up to the sprint...

    Sprinting

Hello Blief.z, AllBlackSilvio does look good and the cables appear more carefully routed along the TFT than I have done. Good Job. There are no mirrors in those 2 pics and before your race day this weekend, you should check for a mirror requirement. That existed in my HPV race, but it was a...

    Seat Pan Pain??--Anyone?

Hello to all, (especially John R., Gannet, Dennis, DANO) Here is the first successful remedy for my complaint of seat pan pain. I still own the Optima ORCA high racer that started me into the recumbent life in 2008. It has a wide (10" X 29") (25cm X 73cm) and long single pad made of open cell...

    Sprinting

Hello Blief.z, Here is good luck and safe racing to you this weekend. Let us know how it goes. Enjoy yourself. I did about a month ago here in Indiana. See #340 "Larry Reyman" -stock class. http://www.recumbents.com/wisil/racing2010/indy2010_results.htm There were no other high racers in...

    Seat Pan Pain??--Anyone?

Gannet, Congratulations upon delivery of your Silvio. I will post more later, but put your fears at rest the seat pain can be eliminated. Yesterday I rode 83 miles, climbing 14 hills, most of them around 4% gradient, and rode my legs to exhaustion and cramps---but the seat and the seatback...

    Seat Pan Pain??--Anyone?

I am in search of any suggestions for a cure to the severe pain in my legs that comes from the front edge of the seat pan on my SILVIO CBSV-091. This pan is similar to sciatic nerve pain, in that it radiates distally down the leg to cause an ache in the knee and ankle areas. The width of the...

Road Bike Seat Bags on SILVIO-Photo

First, I will accept the mantel of "weight weanie". That is not slander to me, it ,in fact, drove my decision to buy the Silvio. So I have added a road bike seat bag to the Silvio using the rear triangle damper as a seat-post (ie, road bike) and modifiying the back of the seat to function as...

Road Bike Seat Bags on SILVIO-Photo

Here is a link to the album of photos taken during the modification--no captions. First Silvio ride after the modification was 3 days ago and covered about 37 miles. I could not feel the seat bag straps nor feel any flex in the upper seat back. Larry...

    Now for build components...

If I am reading your post correctly, you have Campy rims attached to shimano hubs. If that is the situation, then you are in good shape to build the rear wheel with the Shimano cassette cogs and spacers. The modern shifting systems all work wonderful (compared to 1970's etc), but need to be...

    What is a "Real Motobecane"

In 1975, I bought a steel DF bike that was a Motobecane and it was typical for the mass produced lower priced bikes of the time. It was neither great, nor terrible, but the girlfriend of that time rode it casually thorough the parks of Austin, Texas. In 1990, I bought a Motobecane tandem also...

    Rear Brakes Going Soft?

Silvio (CBSV-091) has been on the road since the first weekend of March-about 60 days. I have a little over 250 miles in the seat. The handling has been discovered steadily by myself, albeit there was a slide on the tarmac on the 2nd ride. Yesterdays race against a dozen or so very good and...

Water in the Main Tube after Rainy Ride

Raced the Silvio yesterday in the rain. I had said previously that I would not, but the HPRA changed the course in the Mooresville Park and eliminated the fast downhill run. So we raced the short course in the front of the park and avoided the greater risk of 40 mph downhill and sadly...

    Short Cranks

Hello John T., I agree with your propositions "quality short cranks" are usually only found when you sacrifice a "quality crankset" and send it off to be cut down, drilled and threaded. And short cranks and recumbents do seem to go together like the beach and sunshine! My curious nature has...

    Mounting water bottle cages

Gentlemen, What type/style of water bottle cage would you recommend? I have installed a matched pair of PROFILE DESIGN composite cages. These cages I had on stock in my garage. http://www.excelsports.com/new.asp?page=8&description=Kage+Bottle+Cage&vendorCode=PROFILE&major=3&minor=12 They grip...
