    Q45 Build photos

I thought the same thing about the air-shock (i.e. that it was no good) and bought another one with the same result. I then worked out that the problem is with the frame design. Instead of having the attachment points the same distance from the fulcrum one is much further away so only a small...

Does anyone else have a design Wishlist for the next model of Q series?

Robert is right. The cost of jumping through the hoops is just not worth it unless there are a large number of people who want to go down that route. We had to get a Rohloff test kit and take measurements which we had to submit them to Rohloff before they would sell us the A12 through axle...

Does anyone else have a design Wishlist for the next model of Q series?

Bret is correct about the Rohloff hub and Gates belt. We toured Europe (mostly Italy, Austria and Slovenia) on a couple of Q45s with Rohloff hubs and Gates belts. They were fantastic. The gear ratio we used was determined by the chainstay length and it suited us well. We are slow riders who...

    Regret buying Thor seat?

Hi Bret I have a Thor on my old Q3 and find it pretty good even though the position is fixed and is a bit too laid back for me. I have just upgraded to the latest Q45 and was looking at putting a Thor on it. Unfortunately we're going on a long journey next week and I've run out of time. I...

    Q45 Assembly

Actually, I think it is the Flat Mount version we are interested in. They have 2 separate manuals. Strangely the two versions, FM and PM, take different pads. The flat mount (FM) version takes pads which are compatible with Shimano K-Type pads, the post mount (PM) version takes Shimano G-Type...

A sign of things to come?

I had a similar question about axle width - confirming width before buying a dynamo. It is good to find the answer here but it took some time. It would be helpful if all that technical information was in an easily found spot (i.e. the page for each model). I think some of us want the actual...

    2022 Q45 email

We've ordered a couple of new Q45s and are in the planning phase before their arrival. I have a couple of questions that Robert is probably the best person to ask so I thought I'd do it here so others can see the answers. We've ordered the underseat racks to replace the homemade but effective...

    2022 Q45 email

Robert's explanation is welcomed but I think the whole issue about component shortages and people wanting to do their own thing strengthens the arguments for having framesets as an option, or the only option. We're about to put in orders for two Q45s to replace our heavily used and much loved Q2...

    New Q45 coming....

I don't buy the argument about margins. There is a margin for the frameset, a margin for the components, and a margin for the labour to put the components on the frameset. I'd be happy if they loaded a bit more margin on the frameset. It would probably still be cheaper for me than buying the...

    New Q45 coming....

I too would be interested in just the frameset. We have a Q2 and a Q3 with new brakes, seats, wheels, gearing etc. I did look at changing to a Q45 but realised I would be junking a lot of it, and basically just using the frameset. It just wasn't financially viable. Plus I hate waste.

Quest 559 for sale. Many upgrades. So smooth! $1100.00. Sold.

Just an idea about postage. I've used www.shipito.com in the past for something similar. The service is aimed mostly for products that vendors are not allowed to sell outside the US. shipito provides a US address, but the main thing is that they have relationships with a lot of freight...

    THE NEW Q IS COMING

Which leads to the next question in the game of twenty questions: could the new front end (chainstay, boom etc) fit a Q3 or QX100 as part of an upgrade kit?

    THE NEW Q IS COMING

Be still my beating heart - I just looked again and there seem to be three possible attachment points on the swing arm, two above and one below, all pretty much in a straight line.

    THE NEW Q IS COMING

As a tourer, it's not the front end that's interesting, it's the back end. How do I attach my rack and panniers. You'll see two new attachment points on the swing arm - that's when the fun begins. The real reveal will be when the new rack is shown This is very timely for me. I've been using...

Cracked seat back on early Quest

I have the same problem on my Q3. The cracks showed some time ago but I didn't do anything. I just checked and it has got a lot worse. I'm going to have to fix it asap. I was thinking of drilling holes closer to the centre of the seat but I'll check with my local bike shop. I just checked my...

My Quest got stolen in Australia

Don't give up You should contact the police and EBay. The seller has been active for a while so probably isn't a fly-by-nighter. You may have trouble proving that it was your bike but you should try. Don't give up!
