    Q-45 for Great Divide route?

I rode a Q45 on the Tour of Aotearoa, which is a 3000 km ride the length of New Zealand. My bike weighed 30 kg loaded. Traction is a problem on loose steep hills. I found that I could ride on steep loose hills down to walking pace, then I pushed the bike. I actually prefer to push the bike...

Front dérailleur solution for smaller chainring

I have just completed a 3000 km bike packing trip the length of New Zealand on a route called Tour of Aotearoa. Going back to the original post of this thread my front derailleur worked flawlessly on the trip. My bike weighed 30 kg fully loaded and with water. My gearing was 36/26 with 165 mm...

Anyone convert a FWD twist to MBB?

This is a performer FWD bike that Duncan has modified with a Cruzbike front end. He was very happy with it.

Front dérailleur solution for smaller chainring

I cut the front derailleur stalk off as the front derailleur that I used occupied the same space as the stalk. FD M8025-E I an quite happy about this as I view it as replacing a Cruzbike front derailleur mounting system designed for road chainrings and having the mounting system for road front...

Front dérailleur solution for smaller chainring

I have recently converted my Q45 to 2 x 11 as I wanted lower gears for Bike Packing. I am going to ride the Tour of Aotearoa next march which is a 3000 km unsupported ride the length of New Zealand. My new chainrings are a Shimano 36/26 mountain chain ring. I used a Shimano E type front...

    Q45 hub size

Hi , I am ordering new wheels and I am hoping that someone can confirm what the hub sizes are for a Q45. I think that the front hub is 130mm and the rear hub is 100mm. Is this correct ?

    Shimano GRX dedicated gravel groupset

I have a Silvio 1.5. The front derailleur stalk on it has the same problem . A number of people have tried to bring it to Cruzbikes attention that this is a problem. I am disappointed to hear that it is still a problem on the S40. There are threads on what people have tried to use to work around...

    Any one using roller trainer?

I ride on rollers on a Silvio 1.5 . I ride in my garage and put the rollers in a narrow space between the wall and my SUV. Being very close to something helps keep you centred on the rollers. I also have a mirror on the wall in front of the bike so I can see where the front wheel is on the...

SRAM Rival YAW front mech woes continue!

You could identify if the problem is the brifter or the front derailleur by disconnecting the cable and seeing whether it will shift by moving the front derailleur cage with your hand while rotating the crank.

The compact chainring front mech issues thread

I am glad to hear that the front derailleur stalk is being redesigned. On my Silvio 1.5 there are three problems with the front derailleur stalk . I am posting this in the hope that the new front derailleur stalk will have fixed all three issues. 1: The hanger is too short for compact...

The compact chainring front mech issues thread

I think that the" Rotor front derailleur braze on adapter for QXL/Q rings"looks promising. I am looking at the adapter that has a 20mm thick shim that the original bolt recesses into so it can go under the edge of the braze on mount where there is no hole. It also has another bolt and a second...

The compact chainring front mech issues thread

I have a Silvio 1.5 with a 50/34 compact double and a Shimano ultegra front mech. I have the exact same problem. Also it is very hard to get the front derailleur adjusted out far enough to get the chain to shift onto the big chainring. The braze on mount needs to be positioned about another 5...

    S40 tire size

Is the tyre clearance on the S40 wider at the rear wheel ? Would it be possible to use a wider tyre at the back than the front?

    Smaller chainrings for S40

White Industries makes "VARIABLE BOLT CIRCLE" rings which can accept a tooth differential of between 10 and 24 teeth. You could have a 50/26 crankset with these rings. I would wonder how well they would shift . Also I am not sure whether the bottom brackets that these accept are suitable for a...

Front derailleur stalk for compact chainrings

This photo shows that the derailleur is adjusted as close to the chainring as it can go, but the gap is 10mm , not the recommended 1.5 to 2mm

Front derailleur stalk for compact chainrings

I have a Silvio 1.5 with a 50/34 compact chainring . The front derailleur stalk positions the front derailleur over 10mm from the big chainring , when the gap between the derailleur and the big chainring should be 1.5 mm. Reading other peoples posts leads me to believe that the front derailleur...

    The Cadence Conversations

Hi Ratz, I run a 50/34 with 11x32 on my Silvio 1.5. I need the low gears to get up our hills but do not like the huge cadence jumps. I am looking at a Schumpf Mountain Drive with a 50 tooth front ring and 11x23 cassette .This would give a larger gear range with small cadence...

    Cruzbike on indoor rollers.

I ride my Silvio on rollers with the double rollers at the front . I have never tried to ride with the single roller at the front. I just put my rollers in a gap in the garage between the wall and the car. The narrower the gap the better as your peripheral vision keeps you in the centre of the...

Converting Silvio 1.5 to 650B wheels

I am interested in using 650b wheels so that I can use wider tyres for riding on gravel roads.

Converting Silvio 1.5 to 650B wheels

I have been reading about converting 700c bikes to 650b . It looks reasonably straight forward to convert the Silvio 1.5 by simply installing longer reach brakes. Has any one tried this and were there any fishhooks to the conversion . Also what size tyres would the bike accept with 650B wheels ?
