SOLID Tannus Tire Testing on my V20

Suz I would suggest several things that you can do in the battle against goat heads. We have mega goat heads here in Utah as well. I called them puncture weeds when I was a kid. First, get some good tires, (I have thought about the Tannus tires, too, just haven't gone out on a limb to try...

New Dates for Cruzbike Ride Retreat!

I haven't seen anything about how to register for the retreat. Where do I go. How do I do it. I'm clueless. Keith

    while saving for a v20 I made .....

Wow Don1 you did a great job. You make it sound like you cobbled it together, but it looks really nice. I can see what may be an issue other than what the others have pointed out. The front of the seat seems kinda high. It looks like it would cut into the back of your leg as you peddle down...

    SOLD - Silvio - $2200 - Corvallis, OR

Like Mick Jagger said: "You can't always get what you wa-ant." We would both like to get Vendettas but we have to save up for them. Yeah, I passed a young guy today and he was very surprised. He tried to catch me as we were going into the wind and he just couldn't. That was fun! I don't always...

Couple blogs while crossing the USA

Hi Tuloose. I'm sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I need to hang out on this forum more often, I guess. This is where my friends hang out. I set up Joy's bike to demo the setup just for the retreat. She actually hasn't used the rack and panniers. But, I have! I took two of my grandkids...

    Towing with a vendetta

I pulled a Burley trailer with a Silvio 2.0 on our trip across the U.S. in 2014. I pulled it for about 3000 miles. The last 1000 miles a friend hauled it and most of our gear in his van :). There were no problems with pulling it. The suspension would make no difference since the trailer is...

Chain WAXing (yes it's that easy) - and other mysteries of this art!

I have been using Squirt for a couple of years. I think it is great! I don't have to take the chain off. You do need to start with a clean chain. A new chain has some kind of goo on it that needs to be cleaned off first.

Couple blogs while crossing the USA

Maria says I need to speak up, so I'm trying. I'm going to try to post some pictures of the rack and pannier setup. I hope this works. OK. The first picture shows the top of the rack. The front of the rack deck has to be cut to allow it to fit under the frame of the bike and still be level. It...

Anyone done multi-day rides on there 2.0 yet?

Northern Tier I just completed a 3 month trip with my wife across Northern United States. We both have Silvio 2s. I still love the bike. I used a Burley trailer as well as a custom bag that my wife made from fanny packs that hung down on each side of the seat. She used a Radical Banana bag...

    I got me a JONESING!!

Welcome back Mark. Hi Mark. I've missed your comments and was wondering what you were up to. You're one of the reasons that I got a Silvio in the first place. Now I have a Silvio 2.0 and am having fun with it. I hope to read more of your writings. Keith

Bob Yak trailer or standard trailer for Silvio 1.0?

Trailers I have used a BOB trailer with my RANS Vrex and it was fine as long as I didn't have very much weight in it. When I got over about 50 lbs. it adversely affect my balance and steering. I toured about 650 miles last summer with my Silvio V1.0 using a Burley trailer and I much...

    Silvio 2.0 .. Big Nomination.

Recumbent of the Year I got my Silvio 2.0 (or 2.1) a few days ago and I have only had a chance to ride it once so far because of the snow and ice here in the Rockies, but on that short ride I fell in love with it. I have been riding a Silvio 1.0 for 3 years and 8911 miles and it has been...

    fitting a Terracycle pannier rack to V 1.0 or V 2.0 Silvio

Hi Super Slim. I have used those nuts you are talking about and they are very handy in the right situation, but drilling a hole in the side of your bike frame to hang a rack on is asking for trouble. The area the John suggested might be stress free won't be stress free when you hang some weight...

    Component Option

I got a Sram compact double when I first got the Silvio, but the lowest gear wasn't low enough for me on the steepest grades I climbed (up to 15%). I was able to climb them, but I felt I was putting too much stess on my knees. So, I went to my LBS and had them put on a 12 - 36 cassette which...

    Zefal Spy Mirror A+

Zefal Spy Mirror I have read reviews that the optics on those mirrors is kind of distorted. Is that the case with yours? Do you feel that is a problem? Just wondering. I have 2 myrrycle mountain mirrors which work quite well and have excellent optics but they are so large that I have been...

SRAM Dual Drive II Hub wanted

Sram II Dual Drive Hi Jeff. I would get ahold of Utah Trikes (http://www.utahtrikes.com/) if I had a desire to get any kind of IGH on my bike. They do a lot of custom work and are very helpful. They, of course, specialize in trikes, but should be able to help you in building up a wheel. Good...

    Kickstand

I use a Click-Stand (http://www.click-stand.com/) with my Silvio. It isn't quite as convenient, but it works well and is light weight. Keith
