I finally downloaded and processed my first video from today's race.
It is only the last 5 minutes of the race and from the front camera view, but definitely the most exciting part!

The rear facing video view is even better, as it shows everyone trying to chase me as I passed them - I hope to have it made for tomorrow - and then I'll work on some good segments of the whole race.

Enjoy:

Very close finish!!! If only you knew that if you started 200 m sooner you could have beaten him!

How long was Jim pulling the whole peleton?

Not bad for an Old guy, excellent job digging that deep in the last 2 miles. Watching your HR makes me tired and short of breath

Thanks Jason - That's a new high HR (190bpm) in a race for me. Pulse averaged 181 for the last 1.6 miles, which was for 3min 16secs, last 32 minutes I averaged 170bpm, so probably some excitement induced beats during that period.

Hey Larry... That was incredible. Taking those turns at the end... What a finish! Those two riders thought they had it in the bag.... That was so so close. Given another 50 yards you would have pipped Jesse. That was a totally amazing.

When Larry passes me in the video, I had been pulling the peleton for about 2.3 miles. I had moved to the front to try to run the break-away down when we turned onto Hwy 264. I was waiting for Larry to move up and help me run them down, but he got tied up in the back just a bit too long. I was tired when Larry finally got to me, but I was able to jump on his wheel for the wild ride in to the finish.

Knowing that Jesse was the mark how did he manage to sneak away when the two of you had that much energy at the end? Just curious.

The funny thing - Jim and I were actually the "marks" - Jim and I did not talk any strategy before the race either, but the 3 Bachetta team members came hunting for us.

I was a wild ride, and those turns were truly wicked.
(Jim - after watching the video - your suggestion about breaking away right after we turned on that Old Bath road would have probably done the trick - maybe attacked the group after that little climb when they slowed down to rest - 20/20 vision is always better isn't it!)
- I'm processing the rear camera view now, and should post it later this evening. It is way cooler to watch!

Looks like training and execution of the plan was spot on; and now that there is some competition it's going to be about strategies and tactical decisions in the moment.... Finally this is really "racing"

I didn't realize that it wasn't a closed course ; that really messes with things if you can get stuck behind a car.

:lol I watch this and I'm reminded I have yet to ride in close proximity of other recumbents ever. It'll be an experience when I finally do show up to ride with you guys.

The rear video was worth waiting for!!!

Lucky there was no gravel on those last two corners as the lean angles and speed were incredible!

The Vendetta looks SO much better Aero AND the handle bar arrangement leave the Bachetta and especially the Schlitter for dead for stiffness!

When you put your foot down, you blitzed the others!!!

Did the other recumbents do any turn on the front, or just draft behind you?

Larry, I bet you did that race without mirrors too? What type of arm mirrors do you use? I have watched the front camera film four times and the rear twice so I prefer the front first but I was very impressed to see the rhythm of Jim's legs when drafting. It looks very efficient.

(And now the text to go along with the picture)
After watching the rear view vid, youtube made other related videos available. Some of them I recognize, others not so much. Is that you in the yellow tights?
