Rumors swirled that Team High Speed was assembling a powerhouse squad for Thursday's 300th WTRL TTT event. Those rumors proved true when Ottorocious orchestrated the most formidable lineup ever seen in the High Speed–Low Drag rivalry. This elite 8-person international squad marked the triumphant return of Canadian Benphyrknou to his Cruzbike roots. They pulled Jeremy off the Jersey subway and added Cruzbike Rock Stars John and Laura Crawford for a touch of celebrity flair. But they didn’t stop there. They recruited Ken of Indiana, interrupting his Sebring training, and enlisted Mike (“he can’t use Discord”) Sarten to bring even more wattage to their already turbocharged roster. The final piece of cake? Dixie Darling Connie Swinson from South Georgia. With this lineup, High Speed wasn’t just aiming to beat Low Drag—they were set on obliterating them.

Low Drag, of course, took notice. Initially, there were 7 prospective racers ready to meet the challenge. But as High Speed’s intimidating roster took shape, Low Drag’s lineup dwindled. By race time, only 4 racers remained: Hawkman, Paul Brown, Bobby S, and, well, me. But what a quartet it was! In car terms, we were two Ferraris (Hawkman and Paul), a reliable Ford pickup (Bobby), and a Yugo (me).

Realizing the Serengeti approach wasn’t going to work against such a stacked opponent, we devised a new strategy: Call it the "Elon Musk SpaceX Special." The plan was simple yet daring—our team would operate like a rocket, with specific racers blasting off with everything they had, burning through stages, and jettisoning at strategic points to maximize speed and efficiency. We were going to use every second of our 8 minute head start and simply outrun them.

How did the SpaceX Special play out? Well, miracles can happen.

Stage 1: Bobby delivered an incredible effort, getting us to the base of the epic climb with his 20 minute burn while setting two new records.

Stage 2: Hardy assisted the two Ferraris—Hawk and Paul—around to the second climb, keeping us on target but barely. It would be close. Hardy is jettisoned.

Stage 3 and Touchdown: Hawk and Paul unleashed their full potential, racing to the finish line.

But it wasn’t easy. High Speed put up a tremendous fight. Otto executed a heroic charge, pulling his team harder than ever. He touched the finish line first, with Mike valiantly on his wheel, followed by Ken, John, Laura, Connie, Jeremy, and Ben in a stretched-out line.

Yet our two Ferraris had the final say. Hawk and Paul both broke through the line, sealing the win for Low Drag. Against all odds, the SpaceX Special delivered, and Low Drag went 2-0 for the year against the mighty High Speeders.

Low Drag needs more racers to keep the dream alive. You can help—just join us.
