Thinking out loud...
I don't have a Cruzbike, but do have a Performer High Racer (rear wheel drive). I looked at a lot of roof racks and settled on the Rocky Mounts design, and I've been very happy with it -- we use it regularly to travel 3 hours or more between Raleigh and various destinations.
I believe that fork-clamp designs and more secure and stable than racks that just hold the bike upright, plus have some small aerodynamic advantages.
FYI, we have a Honda CRV with the OEM roof rack, and the Rocky Mounts 'Tie Rod' rails (one standard, one stretch model for the longer wheelbase of the high racer) clamp to the existing crossbars of the Honda rack. I ordered them through my LBS, but they are available online many places.
I also use a bungee cord to tie the frame down to the rail separately just in case the fork clamp comes loose. I do remove the seat padding, stem bag, lights, and computers before transport.
Locks for the fork clamps are sold separately by Rocky Mounts. I waited a few months to buy them and they installed easily and work well; some additional peace of mind in sketchy neighborhoods, but not a long-term solution from a determined thief with tools to saw through metal!
I've been seriously considering the Silvio 2.0 and was thinking about how to mount it to our racks.
- The shorter wheelbase of the Silvio and Vendetta should fit the standard Tie Rod
- With the reversed wheelset of the Cruzbikes you could mount the frame backwards in a standard fork clamp. The Rock Mounts design has clearance for disc brakes, but is designed for a 100mm axle. But this will also make the seat face backwards... you could possibly lose the seat if the velcro mountings come loose at speed. I don't know how the velcro will withstand repeated removal and replacement.
- Or, you could install the mount with the fork clamp at the rear of the roof, so that the seat faces forward -- that's what I plan to do.
Hope this helps you.
