Doug Davis of Bicycle-Evolution is putting up $1,000 for anyone who beats him at this years Hotter'N Hell Hundred August 29th at Wichita Falls, TX. You can use any recumbent, streamliner, or velomobile. Details are here: https://www.bicycle-evolution.com/main/index.php/new-home-page/hh100-recumbent-velomobile-race/ .

I'll be there but will not be a factor as I am just getting over 3 way bypass and some other serious health issues. The course isn't very hilly, mostly flattish, but it is the Texas heat and good old Mr. wind that is the real challenge.

It would be nice to see other companies get involved and maybe have a brand challenge like at Sebring. Anyway, all the fast guys and gals, come on down to Texas and win some money!

I lived in the next town over in Vernon when I was in high school. It's no kidding that it's hotter than hell. The wind there is crazy, too.

Good luck to whomever decides to go there for the event. :)

By the looks of things he is riding a velo? Pretty much means only another velo will beat him, provided of course he's fairly fit and does not have a mechanical.

Doug has been talking about adding a regular recumbent class if enough interest. And last year he had a mechanical and finished in over 6 hours. If I were in great shape I would make another coroliner and go for it. A streamliner is faster than a velo. Doug's main goal is to showcase all recumbents by getting the fast people to show up. There are usually around 12,000-14,000 riders but they let all recumbents go first.

Bring your ride of choice and maybe by the race time there might be a cash prize for the fastest recumbent. It really is a fun weekend. The spaghetti dinner on Friday night before the race is really nice too.

I was just informed there will be money for 2 and 3 wheel regular recumbents. Don't know what the prize is yet but it looks like there will be a prize.

And like I said this race is a showcase with over 12,000 riders each year. A battle of the brands would really showcase each companies bikes and trikes. Where else can you find over 12,000 riders at one event. Seems like to me it is almost like free advertisement! If the really fast riders would show up from the different companies it would give them a chance to showcase their bikes and trikes.

I hope to see everyone there.

2019 was almost cool with high altitude overcast the entire ride. The wind is strong but I have ridden twice with a disc in back and plan to ride 2021 with disc in front also as I have gotten used too strong gusts with it.

I've never ridden it, since I really just started riding in May of 2019...
I was planning on it this year, but I guess It'll have to wait...

It would be awesome to see a bunch of Cruzbike riders there!!!

Blessings,

Here is a video from 2018 HHH
. You can see my old Road Runner corovelo at 0:06 and 1:23. I hope to be back in 2021 in my WAW. I was interviewed by the local TV station, newspaper, and the radio station who made the video. I made it bigger than a Quest because I like a lot of room and at the time I weighed around 225#.
