A quick report.
Paname is slang for Paris so this was indeed a loop from Paris to the Vexin Regional Park, a hilly area in the northwest.
Kudos to the organisers, Audax Club Parisien, for a much better setup at the start, you could get your card in less than 10 min (vs 45 mins last year!).
See details of the ride here.
201 km, 1700 mD+, nice gentle ride to open the season.
The weather was cool and humid in the morning but it cleared out after a couple of hours - eventually I ended with a slight sunburn on the face ^^ It was windy but we were luck as we rode mostly with backwind from km80.
The first and last 30 km to get out of and back in Paris were essentially a pita due to poor roads and lots of traffic - even in the morning, despite it being a Sunday, it was the end of Ramadan so loads of people were gathering to celebrate! Once we reached the countryside roads were usually good and we could enjoy the scenery.
The atmosphere was nice, as usual on brevets, with 400 official attendees plus probably 80 freeloaders who couldn’t get a card. I met again my pal Kim-Minh on his S40, it was his first serious long ride since last year’s early 200! There was also a guy in a velomobile and another acquaintance on a trike.
Many more women than last year, ACP have been trying to bring more ladies on long distance rides and it looks like it’s starting to pay off.
I completed it in 10h20’, riding for 8h35’ - yeah, almost 2 hours of pauses, we took our time and enjoyed some long coffee breaks at terraces under the sun
I rode with a friend on a DF bike, obviously not the most efficient team as he usually waits for me at the top of the hills (though not that much here) and me at the bottom.
Next brevet should be a 300 km, my first one, mid-May.
