Do we know the cost to register? When I tried to check it just says registation not open yet.
Is this Cruzbike teaming up with an already established tour in hope of getting a bunch of Cruzbike togther? It looks like it's not recumbent focused and something I can recomend to others as well.

I believe it's $2000 reg fee plus other incidentals, like tents, etc.

Oooof that's well outside me and Mom's price range for some road riding. Thanks for the heads up

Yes - sadly the cost puts it out of my price range too :)

Robert - I am in the BRNW. I hope some more people will join the group in Oregon.

Just remember for all the climbs up to the other side - once at the top - those miles are free.
I'm familiar with some parts of the route around Corvallis and the climb up to Alsea Falls from Alpine is one tough son of a gun.
I tried it once on a LWB bent I had at the time, towing a BOB trailer. I had to get off and walk because I was loosing steering control due to the front end getting too light.
Another time I was on my Vendetta and at the steepest section I was raised out of my seat and sawing on the bars so much that I was weaving all over the road. I also had to walk it then.
I'll be interested to see how I handle it this time on the S40.
I found a description of the route online that claims that the pitch isn't over 10% even though RWGPS says it maxes out at 17%.
I tend to believe RWGPS but maybe that says more about my climbing skills, or lack thereof.
The ride through Lobster Valley after coming down from Alsea Falls is really nice.

I have been on that same road. It is a bear. But the payoff for the climbs are SUMBLIME downhills and long sections of river grade cruising. Oh yes - this is my favorite type of terrain even if there are brief sections that are just a hai bit much to climb. When I can walk faster than I can ride what does it matter anyway I still get to the top.

I remember some crazy wheelslip when i had my s40 out that way, reinforcing my utter distaste for that level of climb. But there were a few awesome days of rolley polely that were so fun and so fast.
