Can an Airnimal Chameleon be converted?

I was planning to buy a softrider but then I realized that I have an Airnimal Chameleon that's been gathering cobwebs in my garage and might make for a good (or at least interesting) conversion.

I know there are some things that would have to be done, like replacing the fork. It appears that BMX bikes use 24 inch wheels so it looks like no problem getting a fork cheap. But would a BMX fork be wide enough for the hub and 8 or 9 speed cassette?

Also I'm wondering if the angle and height of frame section that holds the seat post would be too much to properly attach and place the seat.

I always thought an airnimal would make a good conversion. As far as the fork goes, remember, it's not the fork that holds the wheel on a conversion. The adaptor plates are what makes a front fork work for a rear wheel.

Thanks for the reply Mark. I'll have to look closer at the conversion kit again. I may still switch out to a suspension fork. I use to have a Rans VRex and it rode like a tank until I put one on it.
