Continental 5000 S TR tire

Just finished my first ride with new shoes on the V. Changed from Panaracer gravel Kings 32mm to Continental 5000 S TR 30mm.
Background - I ran the Panaracers at 55-60 psi
- First ride to the Continentals today 65ish psi, two pumps and a,digital air pressure all gave
different readings

Comparison - the Continentals felt faster and definitely had a smoother ride. The ride quality surprised me.
Panaracers have around 4000 miles on them so not a new/new comparison.

Questions for consideration:

What is the weight balance front to rear on the V20c. 50/50, 48/52?
What pressure is everyone running with this tire?
FYI: I’m 180#’s

Thanks in advance!

I use this for a quick calculation:
When I plug in Imperial units, 700c x 32mm tires, 50/50 weight distribution, 180 lbs bike rider, and 30 libs bike (26 lbs + 4 lbs for water bottles and tools) it calculates to 61 psi. There are a lot of other pressure calculators accounting the road condtion, etc. But the one I mention is quick and easy and should be in the ballpark. So a good starting point.

I ride the same Continentals on my v20. I use 60 PSI front and rear. I'm using PVC tubes. (expensive but supposed to be more resistant to problems). I'm way larger than y'all (246 lbs) and haven't had any flats so far in this configuration. My tires wear faster than normal sized folks so I'll likely change 'em out each season. The Frank Berto tool would have me running with about 110 PSI! I won't be following that advice.

The link I provide actually shows 80.5 psi for 700x32c assuming 50-50 weight distribution and weight of rider at 246 lbs and bike of 30lbs (26 lbs + 4 lbs for water and tools). Similar for 700x28c shows 103.7 psi.

This is just a starting point and should be adjusted for individual preference, road conditions, tube type, etc.

To answer Midnight's question I am running 78-79 psi front, 77-78 psi back, for 700x28c with rider weight of 180 and bike + other weight of 30 lbs.

I fitted the Silvio with GP5000s in 32-584, they ARE fast and comfortable but a bit prone to punctures compared to the Pirelli Cinturato Velo I run on the Vendetta - too bad Pirelli won’t do road 650b…
Both tires at 55-60 psi (I’m 80 kg, the bike fully loaded is 16ish kg) on 25 mm width tubeless rims.

I noticed this thread is nearly two years old, but for anyone still checking, the V20c weight balance usually leans toward 48/52. At 180 lbs, 65 psi is okay, but you might find 58-60 psi even smoother on those 30mm Continentals without losing speed.

I’ve been trying to geek out more on the technical side of my setup lately, and I stumbled across some interesting data on Bike Tyres XYZ while comparing rolling resistance specs for these exact models. It’s a pretty handy database if you want to see how the GP5000s stack up against the Panaracers on paper.

Funny this pops up today. I haven’t ridden the V20c outside in about a year. I inflated to 60 rear, 58 front. Bike felt great! You’re dead on - as far as I’m concerned anyway

Can you feel the 2psi difference between front and back? I know I couldn't. I just run same front and rear (around 60psi give or take 5) and it feels great to me.

I had a 700x32c GP5000 TR on the front of my V20 and it felt great and it was fast at about 80psi on the smooth roads here. A few of the rough sections caused a bit of chatter at that psi, but they have repaved the longest section of asphalt that was in the worst shape so I have gone back to my stock of 700x25 GP5000 TLs. I don't think I can get a GP5000 700x28 on the back with my current wheels. I inflate the TLs to 100psi and let them drop to 80ish before re-inflating. I agree that this seems too high to most people, but the path is incredibly smooth here and I want every saved watt I can get even though it means sacrificing a bit of comfort. If the path here were more rough then I would drop the psi to keep the speed and gain comfort.
