DIY chain catcher

I've made a chain catcher with a piece of steel, making use of the flange at the bottom bracket for mounting it.

That's a great idea. I may adapt that to make a chain catcher for the big ring. My Rival FD has a built in chain catcher for the small ring. As I discovered on Sunday, sometimes the chain falls off the big ring as well.:)

Hmmm never mind. There may not be enough clearance from the crank arm.

As a former sheet metal dude, I appreciate making complex purposeful shapes with a single off-axis bend. The fun part is modeling them in SolidWorks.
