Downtube Donor Question

I've seen a few folks use the downtube folding bike as a donor. I was not able to find ,however, any reviews of how it worked out, how the bike rode, etc. There is a nearly new full suspension downtube bike near me on craigslist. My conversion kit arrived on Saturday and i'm trying not to be too hasty snapping up a donor so I can get to work.

thanks for your help
Jim

I did a no suspension Downtube and it was a fun bike. The full suspension bikes have a longer wheelbase so will work a little better. The Downtube was also easy to convert. If you want 20 in wheels go for it.I just like to go a little faster with the 26 in wheels. Jack

A few more things to consider. The Downtube is low to the ground so you can through it around corners like a Silvio, weight is ok.The speed for me was about 1-2 mph slower but not that big of a deal. Jack

Jack,
Thanks for that great info. I don't think of myself as competitive but speed is something I enjoy so I will go with the 26" wheels.

I actually picked up a univega donor last night, I'll have to start getting some pics going in a new thread.

Cheers
Jim
