Thanks to Doug for his help in choosing a frame (90's Fisher Y "Joshua") and thanks to John for the lesson on BB design.

Gary Fisher JoshuaY.jpg

Got the Gary Fisher frame from Ebay for 67$US plus shipping. I had the frame sand blasted and black glossy powder coated ($80). Took running gear (Sakae & Suntour) and the 26" wheel sets (with 90 psig tires) from an 40yr old Raleigh Technium MB. Used an old Rocksox fork & V brake (took these parts from my old Cannondale F400 but then upgraded it with a new fork).

I am now working on the riding learning curve. Very twitchey and floppy. Need lots of training time. I rigged up a sling to get practice riding straight.

Hi Rock,

Full gloss black will be very swish. Car wash and wax liquid is very good on bikes, dries with shine =)

The open palm leaners technique, http://www.cruzbiking.com.au/firstride will be of good help while you train in the sling. Twitchy-ness tends to come when gripping the handle bars befor your legs have naturally got the idea and practise of whats happening.

Open palms is so your legs learn first.

The young boy James videos were actually of his very first rides, there was no practise befor the camera rolled.

best,

Kim.

Kim,
Thanks for the pointers. I'll try the open palms technique.
