First Quest crash

In case anyone wants to know what happens when you go down on a Quest at speed ... And to get the important stuff out of the way, the bike is fine!

I was on my way to work, on a slightly downhill straightaway going probably 20mph. A car was double-parked, and the street was otherwise clear, so I slid over to the other lane and passed it. Coming back to my lane, the concrete pad was 1-2 inches higher, which I didn't see until just before hitting it at a very slight angle. It flipped the bike immediately down onto its right side. The bike hit on the right pedal mostly, and then on the right handlebar end and brake lever. My right foot caught the pavement and whipped my legs back. I ended up lying prone, with my right leg under the back wheel, my left leg on top of the wheel, and my body across the handlebars.

The pedal held the derailleur up, so no part of the drive train touched the ground, and my leg kept the back half of the bike off the ground. The pedal is trashed, the rubber handlebar end is a bit scratched, and the brake lever tip is sanded down, but otherwise zero damage to the bike. The fairing cracked, but my fairing mount held up perfectly (see pics of the fairing in the Sofrider Mods thread, but I'll post them here too).

I have a sprained right ankle and pretty bad road rash on my right knee - some deep gouges - but otherwise am fine. I shook myself off for a few minutes then continued the remaining 4 miles to work. The nurse there cleaned and bandaged it, and it will heal. No permanent damage to either me or the bike.

Glad you're ok. Seattle would

Glad you're ok. Seattle would be quite a challenge for any recumbent. I've fallen a few times here on the flatlands of Savannah, GA (never at speed) and the bike held up well. I'm now an expert on "managing the clips" and pull my feet out whenever slow speed situations exist using the clips that are flat on one side. I guess you would have to stay clipped to power up those Seattle hills, correct? I like your fairing, is it mostly for the wind and rain or does it help with speed also? What tires are you using on those rain soaked Seattle roads?

I came off my Quest about 2

I came off my Quest about 2 weeks ago, I was riding on a shared/bike path, a jogger was coming in the opposite direction around a curve in the trail, I moved over to the side and I hit the leaf litter on the side. It had been raining that day and leave litter was greasy and down I came.

I was clipped in so my elbow and hip took most of the damage, the bar end mirror got some scratches as did the tip of the quick release on the rear wheel. I was able to continue my ride with no problem, so all was ok.
