Front Derailer and Cables

I did some searching and i'm wondering if someone can tell me the diameter of the tube where the front derailer should attach. I don't have calibers and the front derailer from my mtn bike is much too small.

On Cables; do most of you guys bother re-using your old cables? At my LBS they will cut the cable and housing and charge me by the foot, it might make everything cleaner and easier.

Hi Jim,

The tube diameter is 34.9mm at the derailleur mounting point.

Re-using cables is a false economy unless you are just prototyping and intend to renew them later.

Thanks for the info, Nashbar has a good price on a front derailer but i wanted to get the right clamp size...i'm getting close to having something rideable.
