Handle bar roundup

new S40 convert w stock bar. Wondering if anyone has set up mtb style w flat bar and grip shifters or thumb shifters. Have several sets lying around. Tempted to try it out. Stock bar works fine but I just haven't found the sweet spot in terms of angle. Appreciate any thoughts. Any other bar options favored out there?

This is mine. Inverted Crononero with one bar-end shifter, because I have a single chainwheel.

Watch out with the "mountain" and "road" palaver. Mountain means the tube is narrower, road is wider. The handlebar clamp will not grip mountain bars. Mountain shifters and levers will not fit road bars. You may be able to find one that is "road" in the middle and "mountain" at the ends. I have Hope disk brakes. The levers do not fit, but I made them fit. I must not fall over, because if I bash the levers they will probably snap off.

My first couple years of riding were with a mountain bike handle bar set up.
A couple ride pics here.
I switched this winter to a SRAM hydro road brifter because I prefer having my hands more forward than a flat bar allows.
A Soma Gator may be a reasonable alternative if wanting to use mountain bike components.

Anyone know what the reach measurement is for the handlebars on the V20 and S40? I'm looking to get something with more reach so I can get a longer arm extension. Right now it's close, but anymore adjusting the boom forward causes my thighs hit the handlebars. Very frustrating!
Thinking about getting the Salsa Cowchipper or similar.
Advice /opinions / personal experience greatly appreciated!
