I cannot be the only one who has inadequate bike storage, so I am curious what solutions others have found to deal with this. My wife and I each have upright bikes that are used daily so the only viable option was to get my S40 off the floor since I use it only occasionally. At first I thought, no problem, I will just purchase a bike pulley system made for that purpose, however I quickly discovered that using the same mounting points as an upright, a recumbent does not raise evenly because the drive train weight is cantilevered so far out front. Related to this is the problem of the front end wanting to flop over. Using scrap lumber and after some trial and error I produced something that works. The front end lifting is done by a dowel under the handle bars and also locks onto the handle bars with four small dowels and prevents the front wheel from wobbling around. The back end mounts to the non stock head rest. It raises fairly evenly and fits into a narrow space between my shelving unit and chin up bar. All in all I am quit happy with it.
