I have the 2017 or 2018 model S40 that I want to mount tubeless tires on. It has velocity aileron rims on it. My question is, can I mount tubeless tires on them? If so, is there anything I need to do to them before I mount the tires? thanks in advance

You need to make sure the rims are truly tubeless ready. If they are then the tubeless tire will mount nicely and be very stable and safe. If they are not tubeless ready you can probably still mount tubeless tires to them but they will not really seat properly. That is a recipe for a disaster, especially if (and when) you puncture. IMO - not a good idea or worth the risk

according to velocity's website they are tubeless ready. I purchased there rim kit which has ;late and valve stems. I hope to mount Conti 5000 tl 32mm on the rims. Any input on this set up?
thanks again

I have 38mm Schwalbe G one tubeless on the Velocity Aileron wheels on my S40 for gravel trail riding. Works well.

A quick Google search shows that they are tubeless compatible, but make sure first. Make sure the rim tape is in good condition if it requires it, and use the recommended amount of sealant. Conti 5000 tires are excellent, and the 32mm should be fast and comfortable. It wouldn't hurt to watch a vid or two about getting them on the tires. There is a trick to it that makes it easier involving keeping the tire beads in the rim bed until all of the bead is inside.

I emailed the company and they tell me the aileron rims are tubeless ready. Robert at cruzbike was not sure if the ones they had made for cruzbike are tubeless ready. Sounds like they are .

how old are your aileron rims? Mine came with the 2017 S40. If yours are the same vintage then they should work with the velocity rim tape kit installed. Did you use that kit?

I have 2017 S40 as well. I have local bike shop to install tubeless setup. Works so far... just had it cleaned and refilled last month.

I don’t have an S40, but I have run the Conti 5000TL in the 32mm width. I like them very much.

I am currently running Conti Terra Speed on the 40x622 size. I don’t know if they would fit on an S40.
They are nice for gravel and soak up even more road bumps than the 32x622 5000TL’s. They are a little loud on the road.
