Improved Clearance For Brake Pivot Arm - V20

On my V20 I use a Moose Pack so the rear brake is on the upper mount point. The tip of the pivot arm is unfortunately very close to the frame. While the brake arm does not touch the frame there is no room to use a ferrel on the cable housing so that it will fit into the brake arm.

Since it is a rainy day I thought I would try something different. I took a some Jagwire Elite brake cable parts and random ferrels in my junk box and put together the following.

Using short length of the "slick liner"and six aluminun links, three soft bumpers over the links and one ferrel from Jagwire and two other ferrels, I assembled them on the end of the brake housing.

Final assembly and everything tightened down The Elite housing and the ferrel allow for a nice curve with no interference with the frame of the bike.

Time will tell if this is going to work??

Nice work. There are a few brakes out there that will work without modifications, such as the FSA SLK. Of course the downside is having to buy a new brake. Here is a link to an old post on this subject:

Good news. The FSA Gossamer *Pro* apparently has the same low-profile as the FSA SLK at less than half the price. The brake arm clears the frame on the V20:

It clears a 28c tire here OK, but I wouldn't go much bigger.

I just got mine for $95/set of 2 here:

I'm happier with the blackout scheme vs. the louder scheme in the description photo.
