Loaded Silvio 2.0

I'd like to see how Silvio 2.0 owners have dealt with carrying capacity. I am interested in the 2.0 and I would use it as my everything vehicle. It needs to be able to carry a load. Please post pictures if you can. Seeing different setups helps my imagination

20 litre Dry bags

Hi

I plan to get some 20- 25 liter dry bags ( the ones with straps) - connect the straps together and place under the seat of silivo 2.0. The bags then lie either side of the seat and are pretty aero!!

I found a web page that explained this and had some pictures - but I can't find it now. (total cost could be less than $50!!)

While I don't have a 2.0...

I found a decent way to carry everything I need to commute to work using a $40 Avernir pannier set without a rack. I think the idea would work even better on the 2.0 with a bit of ingenuity.

I'll try to get some pics tonight.

I don't think I've seen anyone who's yet tried to load a Silvio 2.0 heavily.

Doesn't mean it can't be done; we are collecting information like this to establish design parameters for racks and attachments.

Information about what folks are looking for will help us.

What I carry on a Silvio

I have an Old Man Mountain front rack.
I carry a small dry bag with a change of clothes (no shoes) to work to/from each day.
When the weather gets cold - it get's kinda packed but I can smash it down usually enough.
I affix it to the rack with two bungee cords.
I've had two failures; both times when the cords were too loose - wrapped around the axle and broke the cord.

I also occasionally carry my work laptop ~13" Dell as well.
This adds about 6 lbs to my load and is NOTICEABLE.
Both in rear sway and going up hills.

I have in the past used a hard-sided drybox but it was too big and made a ton of noise and blocked too much wind as well - so now it holds stuff in my garage.

I would like:
* A little longer base (the OMMountain rack is a little short).
* A bit easier installation / removal - I'd rather not have to change skewers (long vs short) when I take it on/off.
* A bit easier access to my rear brake with the rack on.
* Something sorta like the Bachetta BrainBox would be pretty awesome - but I like sturdy and so it would have to have some reinforcement to be worth it for me (no idea whether the BrainBox is / is not reinforced).

Another option

I live in the desert so water is a must. I could not figure out how anyone connected their rack at the upper mount point so I came up with a different way. Using 3 different hose clamps (1 for the front of the rack, 2 for the head rest tubes) I was able to come up with a way to secure the front. Cons- It is not a very strong method, so I will not be carrying anything too heavy; the rack does sit at an angle but allows me to carry water and spare tubes. I am sure someone could greatly improve upon this and make a solid clamp for a rack so I am sharing.

Rear bag & water bottle

I hope they come up with a rack for the Silvio 2.0.
Until then we will have to make do with various less than perfect solutions.
I purchased an X-Eyed bag at my LBS today that mounts on the headrest.
I wanted to try out the Bacchetta Brain Box but they didn't have one in stock.
This bag is fairly commodious though - I was able to fit in a 5 liter box of wine on my way home today.
I attached a water bottle mount on the upper slider by using double sided sticky tape between the water bottle holder and the slider and then binding it down with 2 zip ties.

I am just learning how to ride my Silvio.
Today was my 3rd day with the bike and I did about 15 miles.
Trying to maintain a straight line is a struggle but becoming easier every day.
I have been using clipless pedals since my 2nd day.
I do notice that the inside of my right knee rubs against the brake arm when I do a slow speed turn.
It probably doesn't help that I'm knock kneed.

The ?Bachetta Brain Box that

The Bachetta Brain Box that I ordered directly from Bachetta has "X-Eyed" embroidered on top of the bag so they appear to be one and the same. My bag looks just like yours - other than the color.

It looks like it fits better on the Silvio than it does on the Vendetta. It is tricky to maintain rear wheel clearance on the V...

Water Bottle Mount

I use the Topeak Cage Mount to keep my water bottle in the same place. It's convenient, but sometimes I get tired of having it directly in my line of sight.

I had been thinking about

I had been thinking about replicating this and playing with it, this makes it easier. Looks like you could almost collapse it quickly with some fitting changes. E.g. fold it up behind the headrest when not in use, extend it when you need it.

How do you manage the headrest cover?

I like the way you've mounted the lights too.

I've got about 500 miles now

I've got about 500 miles now with my "Brain box tray" and it's worked very well. Looks like the Bachetta Brain Box is the same as your X-eyed bag, except mine is yellow on the sides. My Bachetta Brain Box bag even says "X-eyed" on the top.

I originally mounted it the same way you have it mounted on your Silvio - over the headrest - but that compressed the headrest cushion and I found it uncomfortable. Another problem was that the bag flopped around left to right (like a dog wagging its tail). The tray mount solves both of these problems.
