Low Drag wins again
High Speed and Low Drag were at it again last night on Zwift’s Casse-Pattes course. Low Drag pounds out another victory bringing the 2025 series tally to 4-1 in favor of Low Drag. A major step in recovering some dignity after last year’s 2024 season beatdown at the hands of High Speed.
Unlike traditional TTTs, the High Speed vs. Low Drag format uses handicaps inside the WTRL race to create competitive, high-intensity racing for all. This results in intricate team strategies that go beyond raw power—emphasizing drafting, pacing, tactical execution, and, yes, even some “questionable” tactics.

A History of Constant Evolution

Some riders come and some riders go, but the Cruzbike Virtual Race Team has been at it for eight years, making it one of the most active recumbent racing groups out there. The series is constantly evolving, with rule adjustments aimed at keeping things competitive and engaging. The primary goal isn’t just about winning—it’s about making sure every participant, no matter their power level, gets an honest workout.

Data-Driven Racing

One of the biggest surprises of this series is the sheer amount of data we get—something that was once expensive and exclusive to elite-level athletes. Metrics like max heart rate, time in power zones, watts per kilogram, kilojoules expended, and VO2 max are now in the hands of Cruzbike racers. And I think it’s pretty cool that I can use this data to predict my future performance in 2028—or even go backward and see if I had what it took to ride in the pro peloton in 1975 (spoiler: I didn’t).
The numbers don’t lie. The data is there—use it or ignore it, that’s up to you. But for those looking to refine their performance, improve their training, and gain real-world race insights, this series provides an invaluable resource.

Looking Ahead

Join us next week—help High Speed turn the tide, or keep Low Drag rolling as they continue the beatdown. One thing’s for sure: the next showdown will be another test of power, endurance, and strategy while having fun.

Sebring 6/12/24

On a closing note, next week also marks Sebring 12/24, where many of our racers will be competing in one of the best endurance races in the world. We’ll be following them closely and wishing them all the best!
