Model and Build Date

I just purchased a Quest and would like to know what I have. Is it a Q100 or a 559 a V2,V3? Do our bikes have a serial number that can be used to trace the model and when it was built? I would feel much better knowing what I have especially when talking to other CB owners.Thanks

There is no real order to the SNs - the best bet is to examine the features/color.etc - each model has several "tells" as to its year etc... Post a pic if possible and I bet we can narrow it down.

Q559 and Q451 refer to the wheel sizes the Quest was originally sold with, 559 of course being 26", and 451 being 20". The Q was intended to be packable in an airline-legal suitcase, with the 451 wheels and a short chainstay. If the Q was sold with 559 wheels, it had a longer chainstay to accommodate them. The color for all production Quests is a burnt orange, with some differences in decals.

V1 and V2 had a suspended fork, and could be ordered with either wheel size. V3 went to a non-suspended fork, and was sold only with the 559 wheels and longer chainstay (unless you custom-ordered). My Q (originally 451, since modified) is a V2, purchased in May 2014, right as they were making the transition to the V3.

QX100 is the follow-on to the Quest. Came in dark blue, dark green, or black. Frame is very similar to the Quest. 26" wheels. No idea what "X100" means, if anything.

Ok ,I took some photos and based on Castlerobbers comments I have 26" wheels (Q559) and a suspended front fork V1/V2 and it is Orange. The rear shock and seat bracket do not use skewers to attach them to bike but instead use a hex bolt. It has Shimano Deore derailleur and twist grip shifters. I listed this info in case I can't load photos. The V1 came with a 32/42/53 triple crank and (for 26" wheels) an 11-34 9-speed cassette, while the V2/V3 had the SRAM DualDrive 3-speed hub, a single 42T elliptical chainring, and an 11-28 9-speed cassette.

The V1 used a bolt to attach the top of the rear shock, but V2/V3 had a quick release. The oldest photos of the V1 I can find on the Wayback Machine show a quick release with silver collar for the seatpost.

It is a V1.0 as identical to mine which I received 30/5/2010, with a Serial number on the Bottom bracket of YM 9070 598

Thank You Castlerobber and superslim! That is pretty much what I have then. I do not have a silver quick release on the seat post but do have everything else you have mentioned. SOOO based on your information I have a V1,Q559. Later today I will check the bottom bracket for serial number.
Although it's an older model I look forward to making some major upgrades and begin doing some long tours on this riding machine. I feel I have an excellent platform to work with.
