Mountain Bike Donor + V2/K conversion planned

Hi,

my customer Tamas from Hungary wants to built up a Cruzbike conversion, using:

  • a Mountain Bike

  • a V2/K frame (I suppose to get the seat height right)
I learn from the site that he also needs a Conversion Kit, and that the following hints are important, and I added my comments / questions:
For steering you need...

  • 22.2mm (7/8") stem, or threadless stem - is that covered by the Conversion Kit?
Also, on the V2/K page I find you need a ...

  • Mountain bike fork with 1-1/18 inch steerer tube - will the Conversion Kit and the V2/K fit together here?

  • 27.2mm seat post tube, which is a pretty common size
As far as I learned from my own experience, any "front" wheel fits nicely in the V2/K frame back.
My furtherquestion are

  • Is it important which kind of thread is in the front triangle (MBB) of the Conversion Kit , where the "crank bearing" enters, or will any fit?

  • Less pressing: can the customer get the small screws for the seat base instead of the "Ring Clamps", as he wants to use the V2/K?
Important are also the rest of the listed hints:
- Linear pull V brakes are best, not centre pull or cantilever type - on the front wheel, so that your legs do not hit them
- 26" x 1.5" or 1.25" high pressure road tyres are much much better than knobby tires - unless you only want to ride pebbles or mud
- Fork leg is aligned with axle, is slightly better than offset - I do not understand this??
- Standard style fork crown - the motorbike style triple clamp is too wide - again the issue that your legs need to pass there

By the way the second picture with the conversion hints does not appear on the otherwise helpful page:

Thank you

hi Earnest, I have updated

hi Ernest,
I have updated that page.

A threadless ahead style stem is what the conversion kit expect, but if you have a 7/8" old style stem and ahead adapter works fine.

The V2/K frame plus conversion kit, plus fork and parts of a mtb works well.

The bottom bracket is the standard type.

To fit the seat supportto the V2/K frame without ring clamps, use a couple of M6 bolts. Sometimes these can be extracted from a clamp on stem from the donor bike.

The picture is loading now.

Regards,
John
