Q45 Touring Rack and child seat

This is from the Q45 rack listing on the Cruzbike website:

Expected Max Load Range: 25-30 lbs range when that weight is evenly distributed in two bags, one on each side.

Right sorry I missed that obvious detail. I've tried purchasing a rack from Amazon to see how it might fit on the bike.

No luck. This rack is intended for the rear of a diamond bike. But our Cruzbikes are essentially something like reversed, with the narrower front wheel on the back. It's back to the drawing board on how to get a rack onto the back of this bike that can handle a decent load of up to 50lbs.

I've been following your thread. And also because it doesn't seem like the recommended Cruzbike Q45 rack is going to be back in stock anytime soon.

My kids are grown, but I'm planning to put my dog back there.

I've successfully purchased this rack that supports up to 55 lbs, and installed it with some modifications

I initially tried attaching the front part to the seat post, but realized that didn't work out too well when I realized the movement of the seat with the shock absorber (and bent up the supplied attachments).

So, I then purchased some $2.00 shelving brackets from Menards, and attached the forward section to a mount on the lower frame. I also had to dremel off part of the front rack to allow for movement of the seat.

But, so far it seems to work well, and I'm happy with it for less than $50.00. I plan to paint my modifications black later.

Hey thanks a lot for posting. Are you achieving this with the 6.5" configuration?

Also, it's somehow funny to me that you're carrying a dog xD

Yes, the 6.5" width configuration works fine.

Hah, I suppose that could seem funny, but it's a thing. It's amazing what people do with their pets when the kids are grown LOL
