Recumbant Group Ride

I have my Vendetta on order and can't wait to get back into the game. As a former triathlete and multiple Ironman finisher, I have been sidelined from competiton for several years due to a herniated disk in my neck. The Vendetta is going to get me back on the bike, which was my passion, and back into these types of endurance competitions. I am stoked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are there any organized or unorganized recumbant group rides? Or poswsibly a particular ride that the recumbant community shows up for? I just have this mental picture of a sea of recumbants peletoning down the road.

Congrats on ordering a Vendetta and being able to get back on the bike. I agree that a recumbent-exclusinve ride would be great, but 'bents are still a rarity, but with a growing fan base here in the U.S.

From what I know, the Cruzbike will allow you to mix it up with the Roadies (if they can keep up) and you will have a blast leading pacelines and being able to climb! Until more Cruzbike riders join cyclists like you and me, you're going to have to be one to stand out from the crowd.

Hi John,

Most bicycle clubs allow recumbents (although not all and not for all rides). I recommend checking out the Bent Riders On Line (BROL) Forum for both recumbent rides and individuals who live near you.

Thanks guys.

Andrew29045, when I use to compete in tri's I used to be at the front and even had my share of podium appearances. Looking forward to leading the pack again!!! As I have told my kids; don't follow the road less traveled, make your own road!! Coming back with a bent is exciting.

We need to think about an all bent ride. Big events started as small events and they all had to have a first event!

My hat is off to you

My hat is off to you for being a competitve triathlete. And MULTIPLE Ironman competitions? That's almost unthinkable. I also used to race, up into 2010 and have given that up. I have been on and off of riding recumbents since 2007 and my first experience on a Cruzbike let me know that this is a different ballgame. I have been on both the Sofrider and Silvio and after being on the Silvio, it is definitely on my list for my must have next bike. I believe that among my racing buddies, the Silvio will be taken "more seriously" than other bents I have ridden as it is just like a road bike, just configured to make sense. Once I get up to speed on it and am tackling hills and pulling pacelines, the bike will speak for itself.

I can't wait to read more when you get your Vendetta; please keep us all posted.

I started putting my Vendetta

I started putting my Vendetta together and as more boxes showed up I just got more and more excited. Then I realized that if I wanted to ride the bike this year I better get it assembled by some guys that work on bikes for a living. So yesterday I took it to my old bike shop (Big Shark) that I used and almost lived at when I was eyeballs deep in triathlon. They are telling me Aug 3rd it will be ready,but I am keeping my fingers crossed for sooner. Stay tuned.

assembly directions

Did you point them to the assembly directions?

I made sure the directions

I made sure the directions were in the box and I also printed off several photos and views of different aspects of the bike (i.e. cable routing, bar position, slide tube, etc). Good point though. I am going to call today and just touch base with them. I am sure they will be less busy today than on a Saturday morning. I am sure they will be interested to see the Vendetta as it is so different than what they do / see on a daily basis; at least I am hoping so. Aug 3rd won't come fast enough!!!

I did have the seat pan

I did have the seat pan installed as well as the forks and neck. The seat pan, as my daughter would say, was a mother brother to install. So I am hoping that was the tricky part.
