Shimano FD-R7000, FD-R8000, or FD-R9100 Installation on S40

Has anyone installed one of the subject Shimano front mechanical derailleurs on a S40? I’m trying to install a FD-R7000 and the cable routing from the housing stop on the Stalk to the pulley to the derailleur doesn’t seem to want to line up. Just want to know how others made it work? Pictures would help if you have them.

Thanks!!!

I've had a handful of CB's over the years and have used either FD-R9000 or FD-R9100 on all of them with great results once they are properly setup. In each case, the cable does cant to the right from the cable stop on the stalk to the pulley, and then fairly straight from the pulley to the derailleur. The first two pics are from my S30 and the last two are from my V20c, with both bikes using a FD-R9100. They look like a jumble at first, but you can pick out the cable routing. I hope they help.

Chicorider, Thank You very much!!! Its good to know that it does work even though the cable cants one direction to the pulley and two directions from the pulley. When I temporarily install the cable the cants/misalignments in such a short distance seemed a little extreme to me so I bypassed the stalk entirely and did housing all the way to the derailleur. If that turns out to be unreliable, I’ll give the pulley a try.

Thanks Again.

That should work too. Short of a super sharp bend in the housing, I doubt that the cable cares how you get it there. A slick solution.
