Silvio 2.0 Manual Corrections

I am currently going through the build process on my 2.0 using the 2.0 instructions that just came out. Some people have already posted mistakes or corrections they would like to see to the manual. I thought I would start a separate topic so that it would be easier for those of us still putting our bikes together to refer back to when people find problems.

Below are a few things either I think should be incorporated or appear to be incorrect:

1- Page 4 (Fit the Seat Shells): "Bolt the seat pan and seat back together with the M4 bolts provided." Looking at the picture on page 4 and the Part Number table, no M4 bolts are mentioned.
2- I think it would be useful if parts that are called out in the instructions have the number next to that part corresponding to the parts depicted by the pictures. Page 5 is a good example of this but is not consistently done throughout the instructions.
3- Page 8 (Fit Boom to the BB Clamps): Because I made this mistake I would recommend that the first bulleted item read as follows: Thread the bottom bracket bearing cups into each side of the BB shell. NOTE: Align the BB Clamp Ring (2) on either side of the BB shell and thread the bearing cups through Clamp Ring on each side. You will not be able to install the BB Clamp Ring later if you try to install the bearing cups first.
4- Use consistent parts nomenclature in the instructions and the Part Number table. Examples:

• Page 8: In the instructions mentioned in paragraph 3 above, it says "working through the "BB Clamp Ring" yet the Part Number table simply says BB Clamp. I had to look back and forth several times before I figured out that they were talking about the "rings" that are part of the BB Clamp.
• Page 8: In the next paragraph, the terminology switches from "BB Clamp Ring" to "Chainstay rings" so once again I am looking at the pictures and the Part Number table to see if I am missing something.
• Page 9: The first paragraph says "Insert the Slider through..." yet the Part Number table says "Slider Body."

5- Page 9: The second paragraph says to "Connect the Slide Clamp to the Pivot Clamp using the through pin." The Pivot Clamp should be indicated on the Page 9 picture and Part Number table or refer the reader back to Item #1 on page 7. The fact that Cruzbike uses unique parts with unique names makes it more challenging to assemble this when a part is introduced early in the manual and then later is referred to again without being called out in he picture immediately next to the instructions.
6- Page 9: Probably not that huge of a deal but because you call out the Slider Clamp first to be installed, its picture with Part Number table would be better situated above the Boom Clamp picture/table. I only point this out because it confused me at first until I got my bearings. I also found it odd that it was Item #6 instead of Item #5 in the upper table when it is called out first for assembly.
7- Page 9: The Slider Clamp picture shows three parts but the table only lists two parts. Also, unless I missed something, listing the screw as a TL-301 Screw did little to tell me which one it was. I didn't see any markings on the screw (might have missed it) nor was it in a bag labeled TL-301.
8- Page 10: I don't understand the "A" dimension arrow. It appears that we are looking for a pretty exact 80cm yet I can't really tell from the picture where to take my measurement down at the boom end.

Hope this doesn't sound overly nitpicky and would also welcome any comments if I have misinterpreted any of the instructions. My only goal is to put my bike together properly and to help others who may having some of the same problems as me.

BentBierz,
Thanks for taking

BentBierz,
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and clarify explanations for those of us who are considering a Silvio in the future. It always helps trying to see things from other viewpoints and angles.

Brakes

A few more suggestions for the Silvio 2.0 manual:

1. There should be information regarding the fact that this bike can be outfitted with disc brakes.
2. There has been discussion that maybe a 160mm rotor won't fit on the back. I'm not far enough along in my build to have tested this yet but I'm sure the folks at CB know. If it needs to be 140mm, please put that in the manual so others, like in my case, don't spend the money on a 160mm brake system only to have to pop for a separate 140mm rotor.
3. There should a section on running either the internal cable or housing to the back brake.
4. There should also be an illustration showing the suggested run for the rear brakes for normal road brakes and another for running down to the left side for the disc caliper brake.

Thanks.

Where can one find the build instructions

Are the 2.0 build instructions online? If so where can I find them?

I guess I'm just one lucky

I guess I'm just one lucky guy. Every PDF file in the Silvio "links" files opens except the Silvio 2.0 assembly manual. I get a blank page when I try that one. I'm slowly getting the bike put together anyway using the forum posts.

Not just you, I'm seeing the same thing (but it used to work).
