I had an Insta360 One X camera and had wanted to capture some riding video, but mounting it in a good place has always been a challenge. One of the few YouTube videos of a Cruzbike with such a camera is Tor's excellent PBP video compilation on his Vendetta:
I finally managed to get a good mounting point with my One X on the "invisible selfie stick" which positioned above and behind me. The selfie stick is attached to a pump bracket that usually bolts under your bottle cage.
I zip-tied the pump bracket directly to my Lezyne bottle cages. I love these cages! They have been holding my Cygolite lights for many years and have been flawless. They are clamped to my headrest using Topeak Cage Mounts. This system has been working well for 6 years and pre-dates the Cruzbike headrest cage mount kit.
What the pump bracket allows me to do is easily attach and detach the selfie-stick depending on whether I want the camera or not. The One X automatically removes the selfie stick and thus the 360 video looks like it is shot from drone flying just behind you. Since it's attached with zip ties to bottle cages, the entire stick does flex and bounce a little, but the One X image stabilization is so good that the only "bouncing" thing you see in my video is my helmet.
In most of my video the video is pointing forward but look at 11:30 and right at the end of the video where I "zoom out" so you can even see the bottles underneath the camera and no selfie-stick. So it's like a drone just behind me! Also checkout 16:50 when I pass a couple going up a short incline and the camera pans around to see them.
There aren't enough Silvio and Vendetta videos on YouTube, so now that I have my mounting and video processing flow worked out, I will try and put more on my Cruzbike Singapore playlist:
