Silvio in Adelaide South Australia
I bought the frame in August 08, the Ultegra parts and 440mm wide handle bars arrived in Sept, and I tried to ride it with NO success as my balance is obviously not good.
I ordered the WTB Mountain drop bars from Bikeman USA and these arrived 3 weeks later, giving me 2 weekends of riding before a 220 km(138 ml) race around the bay in Melbourne where 15,500 riders compete, and only 4 recumbents!
The wider bars were MUCH better for going in a straight line and after 24Km and a very sore pair of arms, I finally relaxed my arms a bit, and after 2500km still need to relax more!
I am a slow learner!

Photo of me (Super Slim) on the Silvio!
I have been told that when I turn sideways, I disappear!
At 6'1" and 103 kg, I can understand that! But when I bought my first recumbent (a Scorpion FX folding Trike) in Jan 08, I was 118Kg.
Its amazing how being able to sit on a bike seat for more than 1/2 hour at a time, increases your enjoyment of during 4+ hr rides on a weekend!
I have added a Garmin Edge 705 to the bike to give me accurate % gradients, easy recovery of max average heart rates, and graph heart rate to gradient, etc after the ride.

I had to add the small Tee post so all instruments, bell etc were in front of the handle bar(and pad the bar), to reduce injury to me, after my wife saw me WOBBLE all over the road, with a few crash/ panic stops in the first days of riding!

I will send another post with more photos soon

Regards

Even if you have used some time to learn it’s good that you now are enjoying riding!
You have also got in better shape which is a good motivation to ride.
