Slider crack - maybe?

Noticed this while cleaning up the other day. Before the scolding and chastising begins - I always have torqued to specifications listed on the build manual.

Appears to be superficial - almost like an outer layer only.

Anyone experienced this?

No judgement here. Cracks can appear for many reasons. They usually don't stop by themselves, they just get bigger. I'd replace that part.

I have not experienced this, I will look at mine today. I would take that slider apart and look at the backside.

EDIT: mine is cracked also, added a post below with picture.

Mine did the exact same thing, within the first couple months. Like you, I applied torque to spec. I took pics and sent them to Robert Holler. He recommended that I not continue using the part and sent me a replacement, free of charge. I've been fine ever since.

I will check mine, as had some boom adjustments and manipulated with these bolts.

Checked mine this AM and it is in fact cracked also. Looks like an exact duplicate of the crack in yours.

I sent an email to Cruzbike support.

Ditto, with 7000 miles on my curved slider. I will take a look inside after I change it out for my straight slider.

I only have 3375 miles on my V20c. I have never had the bike in a bike repair stand. So no chance of somehow clamping it too hard. My adjustments were within the first month or two. I bought the torque wrench set recommended by Cruzbike and always torqued to specs.

When I examined it today, I am not sure if it has something to do with the way the part is made.

Hoping it’s just an outer layer issue - not structural

I was curious and checked mine today and noticed the exact same thing. I’m leaning towards design because the “cracks”, and I’m using that term loosely, are exactly the same length, in the same spot on both sides and perfectly straight, as in the part was made with that detail. That being said, you can definitely take your fingernail and feel the line. I have faith CB support will address this soon.

Follow up. I've replaced mine, back to the original straight slider. On the inside of my curved slider I can't see the crack, but my fingernail catches on a corresponding ridge on each side. So probably the resin has failed.

I sent a message to Cruzbike through the "Contact Us" web link. I'm sure this will be addressed.

When the version 2 Race Case was failing they sent me an updated one with screws. “Race Cases did not meet our standards for durability.”

Mathew, is that the outer sides only that your fingernail catches a ridge? I assume you did not find anything unusual on the inside.

I can feel the crack on the inside as well, corresponding to the location and length of the outer cracks. (above post has been edited for clarity)
The good news is that I've probably been riding a few thousand miles on it like this, so it must be pretty robust!
Still, I'm setting this damaged one aside. I ordered a replacement curved slider to use until Crusbike can get this sorted out. I suspect it would take some time. Maybe a redesign with additional material at the weak area?

I received a response from Support, they are sending me a new one, hopefully today. Seems like it would be easy to repair if you knew what kind of epoxy resin to use.
