Smart Trainer Set-up

I recently mounted my S40 onto a KICKR and noticed some front to back and lateral motion. (I have the trainer and bike on a thick rubber mat.)

I am curious whether anyone has noticed rear wheel fatigue from the motion? I cannot tell whether I am unduly stressing my rear FLO wheel. Any easy solution is to purchase a second-hand wheel. Another alternative is rig a mount. Any thoughts are welcomed.

Thanks, Dean

Rear wheel would simply move laterally within spec and is not really loaded up like on a fast corner on road.

I like a 32 spoke aluminium rim for the trainer. Can’t sweat on your carbon wheels
I do not readily see front to back motion on my kickr. Version 1.

Mine is mounted on the kickr mat on top of carpeted concrete so some extra lateral movement is likely but it’s gentle compared to just placing set up on concrete. Therefore I would think induced frame and wheel stress would be less on the soft surface.

I wouldn't worry about the rear wheel at all it's under so little stress compared the the front of the when in a trainer setup. Front to back movement seems like something you are doing wrong with the smoothness of your pedal stroke and would probably be something to work on correcting.

I appreciate the collective feedback.

I will work on smoothing out my pedal stroke. Also, my pad may be a bit too think, causing some potential bounce. It is a little over 15mm thick overtop of a ceramic tile floor. I originally used it to protect the floor from free weights directly striking the ceramic tile.

The trainer is also giving me a chance to fine tune the Ultegra/XT mash-up that I recently installed in place of the previous Di2 DuraAce 10sp set-up.
