Loved Nanda's pictures of the Quest 406 he built.
I've been playing with my Quest 559, too.
I bought a bunch of test parts for re-doing my "Red bike" kit bike, but enjoyed the Quest so much on my recent charity ride with Tom that the parts are all going on my Quest.
It's got my WTB disc wheels, a 54/42/26 155mm triple crank, Shimano 14-25 cassette, my BB5 Avid road calipers, and my Paul's Thumbies. It's getting my Deore rear derailleur and my Tiagra front derailleur, even though the MicroSHIFT parts work fine. The tires are 26 x1.25 Specialized Fatboys, but I don't suggest doing to the fork what I did to get them to fit. The bar height has been reduced 20mm.
Partly, this has validated the effectiveness of the original parts specified for the Quest. The Avid BB5's require a fair amount more lever pressure for the same brake grab as the original Tektros (yes, I changed the lever pull ratio to match the road calipers) and the MicroSHIFT components shift the modified drivetrain as well as they did the original rings and cogs.
But, "If I haven't "messed" with it, it isn't mine!"
Best,
Doug
