Hi All,
I just wanted to share my experience with the upgrades to my new Sofrider.
I wanted a triple crankset with 155mm crank arms to replace the standard double that comes with the bike. I read in someone's post about Mark Stonich of bikesmithdesign.com. He can take longer crank arms, cut them shorter and retap for pedals. I highly recommend him - I asked a lot of questions and he responded to all of them. He does excellent work. I ended up with an Andels 155mm Triple with 24-34-46 RaceFace chainrings
Once the new triple crankset was installed on the bike's 113mm bottom bracket, the original front derailleur wouldn't shift to the small chainring. After some further research, I installed a Shimano BB-UN54 127.5mm bottom bracket, a SRAM X.9 rear derailleur, SRAM PG-990 11-32 cassette, a Shimano XT Front derailleur, and SRAM X.9 Gripshifters. The results: shifting is smooth as "butta."
I also upgraded the wheels to WTB rims with Shimano XT 756 disc compatible hubs. I am planning on installing Avid BB7 160mm disc brakes this winter so I can swap between 26" and 700c wheels
