Hi All

I'm think of changing the handle bars on the conversion, may the final finishing change to the bike foe a while??

But not sure which of these two handlebars to get - any comments folks??

Hi CS,

The Raleigh Trekking bar is very similar to what we use on the Sofrider and Quest, only a bit wider, which isn't a bad thing for conversion bikes. The rise is also a little shallower, which means you won't get quite and much knee relief, but it's close.

I have a pair of bars very much like the North Rounder, and they didn't work well for me at all. Your mileage may vary.

Best,

Doug

Hey Doug!! What do you mean the final change? Is there such a thing? Looks like the north rounders would give more knee room, but you say they didn't work out for you .. Do you still have the riser on the Telle tube, or is this on the Red bike.. Or have I lost count.. I have the wide cruzer bars , but thinking of going narrower, and changing my riser, and stem.. I just put 20" wheels on my Tiara ,and the short QUEST chain stay . ( I ordered the chain stay from Marea on Wendesday , got it on Friday morning , Now thats fAST SERVICE :D ) Now my knees don't come up so high, or lower angle.. Maybe I could use Mnt bike ,or ape hanger bars now.. I realy like that type of bar.. Bottom bracket is at 19" now , with big apple 2.35 tires.. Take care Bill

If it is any help, here is a picture of a pair of Sofrider type handlebars.

The picture above is of a Kalloy AL-030 handlebar. I believe that this is the Sofrider standard bar, though the Sofrider uses a black-painted version.
Edit
You may also want to think about changing your handlebar stem. The Sofrider V2 has a short, very rigid stem rather than the longer, adjustable stem that you presently have on your conversion.

Hi All

Thanks for the help

I think this is pretty close to the sofrider bars

so maybe I'll go with these - they are cheaper too!!

I would go with the North bars or touring bars. I have Wald touring bars on my conversion and Silvio and they work great. Jack
