The Otto-Man Empire Strikes Again

What’s the perfect way to cap off a Merry Christmas? For the daring, the bold, and the slightly unhinged, it’s taking on the annual Bologna TTT—not one lap, but two! Only the bravest riders showed up for this grueling challenge, led by none other than our fearless leader, Ottorocious Otto. As head mule skinner (or for the uninitiated, "mule whisperer"), Otto teamed up with his trusty mule skinners, Lookout Larry and Pullemup Captain Falcon, to coax, cheer, and pull the team through the punishing course.

The five mules under their care were ready for the challenge: Cruzbike Connie, Marvelous Mike, Laughing Laura (when she could catch her breath), Jump-in-Front John, and Rookie Jeremy. On the first lap, everything was smooth sailing. Larry called out gaps with precision, while Otto and Falcon skillfully wrangled strays back into the fold. Spirits were high, and the team moved like a well-oiled machine.

But Bologna’s infamous second climb demanded its pound of flesh. The team dug deep, fighting gravity and fatigue. One by one, the toll began to show. With their ranks thinning, the front four riders surged ahead, ramping up the speed—though number four might argue there weren’t any more notches to kick up. Once the climb was behind them, it was all systems go: “Katie, bar the door! Full speed ahead! And don’t forget number four!”

The final time? A blistering 1:07.28. Official results are still pending on WTRL, but High Speed’s performance was nothing short of heroic. And what about the rest of the mighty High-Speed crew? Riders five, six, seven, and eight weren’t far behind, clocking impressive times and earning the coveted title of Anciens of Bologna. Bravo, High Speeders!

Looking ahead, Hot Legs Hardy is already fired up for next week’s Alp du Zwift TTT. He’s hoping to see a Low Drag contingent step up to challenge High Speed on this legendary climb. As Hardy put it: “Jeez, Alp du Zwift. A bad memory sure comes in handy for events like this.”
