V2 Build Diary, 2024 Edition

Thanks to a very kind forum member, I have been brought into the Cruzbike world with a new (to me) V2.0 (we think). I have some plans for this bike and am looking to build it up for the spring while using it on the trainer through the winter months.

So far I am playing around with different seats and mounting to see what feels right. I do know the stock seat hates me. Currently, I have stuck a spare seat from a Performer on there with a 2cm rubber block on the top mount and some of the moldable plastic others have been using on the bottom. Not ideal, but enables me to play around with the positioning while I get things dialed in on the trainer.20241129_183631[1].jpg

On odd problem I have had with this build out of the gate is that the derailleur hanger doesn't appear to work with some brands/models. Just to get some gears on there while I decide on a group set I went to throw on a spare 9 speed Sora long cage and found that there was not enough space between the tensioner screw and the derailleur's main fastener. Basically 'A' on the hanger is too fat to allow 'B' on the derailleur to pass as I show in the attached image. I found this a bit odd but thought I should bring it up in case I need to be very careful about what kit I order. Has anyone else seen this? For now I have stuck single speed tensioner on there to at least use virtual gears.image (1).png

Welcome aboard! I had a yellow V2 like yours for years. Great bike. I built it up with Shimano Dura Ace, 9000 series 11-speed, and never had the derailleur hanger spacing problem that you show. I suppose that if I did, I would shave that part of the hanger down a tiny bit with a file or Dremel tool.
