Vendetta - Chain length

The chain on my Vendetta needed to be replaced for the first time. I took it to the LBS and asked them to replace it with a KMC hallow pen chain. The chain came with 116 links which is pretty standard, but the original chain had 120 links (which I didn't realize). We ended up using a Dura Ace chain because the mechainic had extra links. Are there places that sell chain by the link if I want to replace the chain myself in the future? ...or will I need to purchase two chains?

My only guess would be

My only guess would be to contact a recumbent bike shop that deals with 10sp drivetrains, some place like bentupcycles.com. They might buy their 10sp chain by the spool and be able to sell you a custom length.

I personally just went with two standard chains and joined them (I have a V with large boom/chainstay). Now I have a bunch extra for the next chain swap.
