wahoo, almost done! - a few assembly questions, though.

After a few weeks trying to find a suitable donor, I settled on getting the sofrider V2K frame as nothing was showing up on craigslist that would be suitable. I'm quite happy I did, as the seat mounting is much cleaner and the rear forks are already spaced to take my old front wheel so I don't have to put in a different axle. The Mavic brake adapters that Doug suggested fit perfectly with my 700c wheels.

I have a couple of questions, however. The forks I found fit very nicely, I didn't even need to swap out headsets, but I did put in new bearings. The insert collar (part C6) didn't fit, as it's O.D. was a couple mm larger than the I.D. of the fork. From reading this - http://www.cruzbike.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=375#p2720 - it looks like it doesn't matter. If an insert collar is necessary for strength, I could machine one.

Another thing I noticed is that the pivot clamp (part c3) will only fit with the safety bolt pointing upwards, not facing downwards as in the photos in the assembly instructions. I am also hoping this isn't a big issue.

As far as assembly goes, I'm almost done after a bit of tinkering.
I have to get a new front derailleur as the clamp for my old one won't fit the new "downtube" and while I have everything open, I'll probably put in a new bottom bracket because I have a few thousand miles on my old one. The only parts I am missing are a seat tube clamp, because, unfortunately, one wasn't shipped with the V2K frame, and a few more bolts to hold the seat to the seat mount.

Then to learn how to ride on it! (photos to be posted soon)
