Wanted: QX100 (upper) seat

I have bought a used QX100; unfortunately the upper part of the seat has two cracks (which were covered by the mat.

Has anybody replaced the original seat and has still got the QX100 seat or the upper part?

Thanks and best regards from Switzerland

Herbert

If that upper seat has cracks either the previous owner was very heavy or that bike may have been in a crash. For peace of mind, please check the frame for any signs of damage and for proper alignment.

The former owner's son had a crash. He fell (obviously to the right, according to the scratches of the luggage carrier). One pedal's 2mm pedal's stripe is bended heavily. I have several times checked the frame for hair cracks, but I haven't seen anything. No scratches on the frame. Alignment seems to be ok too.
Thanks a million for your wish to prevent danger.
One of the former owners (I bought it 3rd hand) also "forgot" to assemble washers between the seat-pans (no washers with the screws either)...

I mean not washers along with other screws of the seat either (nor with the screws of luggage carrier...). Plus no washers between the pans, which is the worst.
The damaged pedal is on the left hand side, the scratches on the carrier are on the right hand side.
I didn't notice anything during the test-ride (however I was busy to drive straight...

In case it sounds like bashing, there is a misunderstanding. The big picture: as soon as I realized the cracks, I have informed the seller. But I wanted to wait for the price of Cruzbike for the seat, in order to ask for a compensation from the seller. Calculating the price however is more complicated, I thought.

I bought the QX100 at EUR 600 including a solid and nearly new front wheel (had been replaced) and pretty new Vittoria tyres. The seller transported it to a friend of mine (20 miles), that's why I wonder whether or not I should ask for a compensation.
May be half the price for a used seat (in case someone is selling a seat in Europe...).
The seller did not know that the seat was broken (because the cracks were covered by the mat). But he had told me, that his son fell to the right hand side (before I decided to buy the QX100).
Usually in Europe something used is sold as seen. Of course the seller should point out known damages espeically if they might endanger the buyer's health.
Still I'm looking for a used (upper) seat in order to test the more upright position, which might be the best for the QX100 geometrie. The Velomo wooden seat, I got by a friend, is too big for my back, plus the max possible seat angle is about 40 degrees.

It sounds like you received a good price from a fair seller.

I wonder if any of the European recumbent dealers have a blemished seat or one remaining from a client that wanted an upgrade that you could buy and use your material knowledge to mount better than the stock configuration. That way you would get an upgrade, the seller has no unexpected costs, and the dealer gets rid of aesthetically harder to sell or excess merchandise.

I hope it works out best for all.

Thanks, benphyr. I will respond in this thread: https://forum.cruzbike.com/threads/...t-support-welding-possible.14102/#post-170270
My knowledge is only basic, unfortunately. There is a lot of practical know how missing.

I'm still looking for a used QX100 seat!
That's how the bracket und the two supports look like:

I have asked several European cruzbike, whether or not they might have something on stock. But they all have to order in the US (the mounting and brackets system of the Q45 and T50 has much improved, but it's not compatible with the QX100 system).

I should tell you that the seat back and base pressings for the QX100 are the same as those for the Conversion Kit, Sofrider, Quest, T50, and Sigma (you won't be finding Sigma parts.) Even the hole drilling is the same; they just differ in paint color. Any of those seats will solve your problems. These seats are pressed from series 5000 aluminum, which bends pretty benignly, but as I remember, it doesn't weld very easily. Somebody correct me if they know otherwise. I probably have one around here somewhere...
