so is there somewhere I can purchase a bracket to attach to my Silvio 1.5 that I can mount a headlight to? or do I need to have something created? also any problem finding a spot on the frame to attach the battery pack to? I'm looking at the serfas light? any input would be much appreciated. Raine

I don't know if you already

I don't know if you already own the Serfas light, but I have one of these mounted right on my Silvio 1.5's handlebars. No extra hardware needed and the battery is internal. It's a great light and the mount is solid.

Another Light Mount Option

I have several mounts that I purchased from Dinotte that I use from my front light and for my Garmin edge.

http://store.dinottelighting.com/140l-140r-140a-tail-light-mount-p49.aspx

The great thing is that this can be installed and/or removed in just a few seconds. Great especially if you want to just have a temporary mount that can be taken on/off as needed.

^ Nice!

Ken,

That is a great looking mount. I love the simplicity of just an elastic o-ring to hold it in place. Much better, in my opinion, than a fixed mount.

Commission from Dinotte

Martin,
With my 10% commission from Dinotte, that means I just earned $1.40. But, seriously, let us know how it works for you.

BTW, my wife's daughter lives in Westminister. While vacationing there early Sept., I did a daily ride on the trails to Golden on my Silvio 1.5 while they went out and did their thing.

not happy

The Dinotte mount arrived today from New Hampshire but to me it's a bad design. A single arm just does not cut it for my Niterider 650 (weight: 180g): not stable but very wiggly.
With two arms and a groove on each side to hold the band it would have been fine.
I'll probably rig a second arm with super glue.

Extra Weight

Martin,
Definitely see what you mean.
My headlight uses an external battery pack so do not weight as much one with internal battery pack.
Too bad they didn't make the plastic a bit thicker or stiffer. Or, as you indicated, a second arm.
However, the flexibility does add some shock adsorption.

Let us know how your modification with second arm works out.

I also use this same mount for my Garmin 800.
Mounting my Garmin 800 directly on my handlebar seems to close for me so this mount for my Garmin 800 along the stem.
And, of course, weight is not an issue for the Garmin 800.

I got myself a new super

I got myself a new super bright Cree light and managed to mount it to my Silvio 2 "nose" without buying additional hardware! I selected this generic model for $31 delivered. It is the type with separate battery pack which has its pros and cons. Thankfully the battery pack fits really nicely under my boom supported by the derailleur stalk. Extra cable length of the battery pack is hidden inside the battery case.

The light mounting was the key part. This light came with a plastic helmet mount. See original pic in DX URL if interested. I trimmed it using a dremel and managed to mount it onto the Silvio boom with a couple of screws. I cut the mount in half and attached each half separately to each mount point on Silvio. Then the light and silicone band attach to the plastic mount. After testing and finalizing the mount, I will shorten the cable for the light so it is the exact correct length.

This 800 lumen light is superb bang for buck. However the battery indicator LED is always on and so it drains the battery, necessitating a physical disconnect from the battery when not using the light.

Similar Method as Ivan's

Ivan, I used similar method to mount my "permanent" smaller light and external battery pack.
Just did a little trimming on one of my dinotte mounts. I have an extension on my Silvio 1.5 so mount my battery to it.

Ingenuity rules!

Ingenuity rules! But good luck, Ivan, with that Cree light. I've owned two of those and the button quit on me after two months. Very annoying. This stuff looks and feels like it's military grade and gives out great light but once broken there's no way to fix it.

Ah, so I am not the first -

Ah, so I am not the first - Ken did it and was braver, cutting up a much more expensive mount!

Thanks counterpoint, I will try not to press that button too much! ;) I owned a similar cheap China model before for 6 months and sold it off while it was still working well. But yeah, reliability is always an issue with the generic stuff from China...like the $8 bike shorts I am wearing now! :)
