Why soft tail for conversion?

I'm curious why a soft tail is recommended for the conversion kit. Is it because the seat height will be more correct?

I can't find any suitable donor bikes locally (soft tail.) I can buy an El Cheapo alloy framed soft tail from EBay or a Cell bike like this http://www.cellbikes.com.au/p_48_CELL__DHX2__Full_Suspension_Townhill_Bike

I am concerned at the likely quality of the cheap end of the market and I'm not worried about not having suspension. Is there a non suspended frame that will do the trick?

Check out my Giant conversion no suspension and it works great. Just look for a small frame donor. Plenty of pictures on the conversion brag board. Jack

A few years ago I bought a new rigid recumbent and snapped the seat in the first week, It's better to have a shocker under your rear end to soften the blows rather than breaking things like seats and your back
