Wide tires on V20

it’s been discussed.
https://forum.cruzbike.com/threads/v20-max-tire-size.11722/

I have 650b 42 mm on the back, fits with room to spare. Up front 38 mm fits but will rub While riding due to flexing.

Let me know if you find any good 32-36 mm. Continental Grand Prix 5000 TL and the Schwalbe Pro One TLE go up to 28 mm. Compass quit making their 32 mm a couple years ago.

I contemplated seeing if the wider S40 fork would retrofit easily to allow the 38 to fit better, but it seems like too much work. Might as well get an S40 for such tasks.

Currently I’m running an Enve AR 4.5 paired to 28 mm up front. I call the set-up a mullet - business up front, party in the back. The combination works well for me. I had it on the GAP rail-trail from Pittsburgh to Cumberland with no trouble other than a sidewall cut from a stone that required putting in a tube.

I have done a pretty exhaustive search, planning on a rear wheel for my Alpha 7 velo. Compass Loup Loup measures 37.5 mm. The Schwalbe Pro One 28 mm (2019, not TLE) measure 30 mm, and the GP5000 28mm measure right on the money. I could not find any good tires in the 35 mm width range in 584. The 584 G-One speed in 30mm might be an option. I dunno. I have its predecessor the S-One in 622-30 and it was closer to 32 mm in actual fact. The 584-30 G-One Speed???? A GP5000 in 32mm would be perfect....if it was made.

I am pretty sure they are made because I have a pair of 32 mm GP 5000 TL in the garage waiting to be installed when the weather gets warmer. To rainy and cold now.

It was built a few weeks ago and ready to ship, I think they get sent in batches. Should get it any day.

First velo. Decided on a trike during PBP, better balance and ease on hills and I wanted to tour. An Alpha 7 for credit card touring.

No wheel covers, yet. I am probably going to fabricate mini-skirt over just the top lip because that is where all the turbulance resides, I am going to build more durable and more aero wheels, too. Daniel Fenn has made the molds and prototypes for the racecap, as I read and see pictures on the German forums.

Will I fit? No idea. I should. Interior dimensions are more DFXL than DF. The higher, taller front end should also allow most riders to use longer cranks even with big feet. Better suspension, stiffer, lighter, can take 406-40mm front tires and 622-28mm rear, better positioned light, better ventilation. much better lighting system, and most importantly is the enhanced cross-wind stability close to the Milan SL or maybe equal.

I think Doug (bike evolution) had a cancellation and has one in the pipeline for order, almost immediate delivery.

Panaracer makes a 650b x 32, the Pasela ProTite Urban/touring tire. May or may not be what you're looking for. Tan sidewalls to match your Compass tire in the back. Not tubeless though.

There's also the Hutchinson "Confrérie des 650B" available in 32mm width. See: https://www.xxcycle.com/tyre-hutchinson-confrerie-des-650b-275-650-b-ts,,en.php I have no firsthand experience with it, but by all accounts a decent tire. Not competition for ultra-low Crr Compass/RH rubber, but not an armored touring tire either.

Aesthetics is well down in the list of coveted tire qualities, but I have to admit I'm secretly in lust with the oh so round gray sidewalls on those Hutchinson French retro beauties. Ooh la la!

hi ed was wondering how the alpha 7 is working out.

it is my retirement dream bike. Though covid 19 has pushed it back some.

did you take ownership of the alpha 7 ed.

how do you fit.

what are your physical proportions. I seem to remember you are a tall person.
