Thor Dolphin Tail Box

I have been playing around with a Thor Dolphin tail box on my V20 for a couple of weeks now.

This is how it looks mounted on a Thor Sport seat size L:

This is the carbon version of it, weighing in at 1.39 kg. It also has the latest version of the lid with a recess making it possible to open the lid even when the Garmin Varia is installed:

See you got the headrest lid cutout I though I was going to get but didn't. So is it enough to clear your headrest when you open the lid?

Wow! That looks fantastic!

This is exactly what i was looking for!
It looks like there's some kind of spacer under your seat, raising it from the frame...

Would you mind sharing more about how you mounted your seat?

Thank you so much for sharing!

Blessings,

I have a question about the rear disc wheel. It looks like it says Aerojacket. Is the original wheel with disc brake? If so, how did you attach the Aerojacket to the disc brake wheel because Wheelbuilder's website says it is not compatible with disc brake wheel. Thanks.

I can’t speak for Peter, but I used two bolts and a rubber spacer like here and elsewhere. The rest is held down with Velcro. I know others have added some rubber or wood spacers to elevate the back, making the bike more like a V25.
It looks like Peter has some (reflective) tape along the structural ribs.

Yes, it´s a disc brake wheel:

The tricky thing is to get the wheel cover to clear the brake caliper. The wheel cover is really close... But it works, even though it is not perfect in any sense.

There are many ways to mount a Thor seat. It is also dependent on what version of the V20 frame you have.
Anyway there is a lot of information about how to do it in this thread: https://forum.cruzbike.com/threads/seat-mod.8978/

Mine is bolted on the front on a thin Polymorph thermoplastic spacer:

The rear is just zip tied to the frame on two larger Polymorph spacers:

Peter, thank you for the pictures and explanations :).

Since mounting the Dolphin box, have you noticed any differences?

Thank you again.

@Peter Lundgren would you also be so kind and share the exact specs. of your disc brakes? is it flat or post mount? is it hydraulic? thx

Those are post mount hydro brakes that come on the SRAM Etap groupset, the same stuff I use on my V20. Judging by the bracket on the rear brake he is also using a 140mm rotor in the rear.

It´s faster than the Radical Design Solo Aero tail bag that I usually have on my V20. The average speed will increase with about 0.5 mph. So if I want to go as fast as possible then I use it for sure. But for ordinary day-to-day riding I prefer the Radical Design tail bag.

Radical Design Solo Aero WIDE or NARROW? I’m trying to pick one up for the Thor seat that is currently on a boat from Poland. :)
