Ventisit 2cm or 3cm?

I'm about to order a ventisit seat pad for the S40 but am unsure weather to get 2cm or 3cm. I ride quite bumpy roads and am no real speed merchant so am inclined towards 3cm. Any pro's and cons between them?

I have both and don’t appreciate any noticeable benefit with the 3 cm over the 2. You’ll get better ride comfort with wide tires, lower pressures (tubeless to avoid pinch flats), and if still rough add some yoga mat cushion.

Thanks for the reply. Having no experience of either myself someone who has used both was just what I was after. The weather is getting hotter again and I'm getting a pretty sweaty back with the standard pad so want to try the ventisit. Based on what you say I might as well get the cheaper 2cm version.
I use 38mm tyres at a reasonable pressure already and am far too old school for all this tubeless malarky in narrow(ish) tyres.

I have the 3 cm version, and I have to admit it is much less comfortable than the standard Cruzbike cushion.

Too late now, lol. It's the ventilation I'm most interested in tbh. Will let you know my thoughts when I've used it a while.

Got it through and after 100km it's certainly not as comfy as the original pad but I think it helps with ventilation. It definitely raises me up and I had to raise the headrest. I find it ok and a nice shape on my back but not so much under my butt, the 2cm might have been better and put me back in the seat a bit more. Going to try removing the scarab bag to see if getting rid of the extra velcro straps helps. I'll be using the original CB seatpad in cooler months I think. It does seem well made and handy it dosn't soak up moisture though.

After longer rides – longer than 100 miles – I get a Ventisit mesh imprint on my shoulder blades. I have protruding shoulder blades, and they happen to be right at the edge of the seat. It's a bit uncomfortable, and after a 250-mile brevet, the imprint has stayed for two days now. I'm starting to think about some kind of solution. The worst-case scenario would be replacing the seat with a wider one. That would be a shame, because I like this one.

Update - After fiddling with the position of the ventisit I now have it much more forward which has improved things no end with slipping down it. We have had some slightly warmer weather too and it's definitely helps a lot with back sweat. And although it is not as plush as the CB pad I'm finding the comfort fine. I'd probably have gone for the 2cm if I did it again but all in all very happy now I'm used to it.

Damien. Looking at the pics of your last big ride it looks like you put something extra behind your shoulder blades?

A side note about the Ventisit pad: As sweat works its way into the pad, salt and other gunk can accumulate beneath the pad and seat pan. You won't necessarily see this on the top of the pad. I take my pad off a few times a year and take it into the shower with me to soap it down and rinse it off. Let it air dry, wipe down the seat pan, and put it back on.

I hate to throw a monkey wrench into this thread, but I do not think Cruzbike offers both thicknesses of the Ventisit pad. Perhaps they did in the past, but it does not appear to be available now. I think all they have is the 2cm one - although it does not state that in the desc of the item.

However - the photo really looks like the 3cm one to me. Perhaps @Robert Holler or @Maria Parker will see this and let us know for sure.

I am pretty sure all of our Dentists are the 3cm ones. I am not sure that Bart at Dentist has done a 2cm one for us, actually. maybe a long time ago...
