New to me Old T50 frame to build. A few questions.

Greetings all. My son finally got to the age to really take to riding and I electrified my wife's trike so she can keep up with both of us. Been doing miles on my RANS Rocket that I modified to ride loaded touring cross country back in 2002. Been having a blast and doing around 100-120 miles a week. Looking for something a little more performant as I train up for longer rides. Always wanted to finish the RAIN ride (Ride Across INdiana). 155 miles within 14 hours. Been looking at Cruzbike for some time, but out of my budjet currently for new frameset or bike.

Found an unbuilt T50 frame for a reasonable price on Facebook marketplace and received it yesterday. Was not packed as well as I hoped, but only a few chips here and there that I'll have to touch up, but no physical tube damage. It has the 3 qr seat mount, but the rear mount isn't adjustable (which I think was Gen 2.) Seeing logo only on the headset tube and not on the rear stays. I believe this is either kickstarter or 2018 frame. I have 4 quick release axles and not sure where the 4th is used...

I have not build with disc brakes before. Thinking just entry level MT201. Not sure if there is a different beween front and rear on a normal bike (other than tubing length and lever side). Assuming post mount with IS adapters work for both, just 180 front and 160 rear. Is that correct? (or is it 160 / 140? ) A little worried that 1700mm on back is going to be tight. Will have to play with that some as I work out handlebars. Might have to add tubing. Probably similar to the procedure I did on the Rocket for Maugra HS33 hydraulic I put on it and still love.

I'm a big slow climber (but getting smaller and faster), so looking at trying out a wide range Microshift 11-48 1x10 setup. I figure I can just deal with lack of power on the top end until I get in better shape, then bump up the chainring. Might have done 2x10 with Microshift Sword if they have 2x left lever trigger compatible. Can't use the road levers with hydraulic. First time with external bearing (non square shaft) BB. All kinds of fun new learning with this.

Just ordered some 559 wheels. I didn't have anything with disc compatibility. I was impressed how even 2.5 Maxxis Hookworms fit on the back, then saw they were not even close on the front. Probably start out with some Schwaulbe Marathon Racers that I got in a good deal.

Just turning winter and while indoor trainers are annoying with regular recumbents and all the idlers or chain tubes, Seems like the MBB design lends well for them. So I ordered a ThinkRider XXPro to try out. I have non disc front wheel I can use while my wheels are coming in, but planning on a more stable platform with typical front fork rack mount block to save space. Seems like this would be a good way to get position and things right over the winter. I've ridden thousands of miles on recumbents, but this will be my first Cruzbike or MBB of any type.

Looking at the extended tube steering mod and have the tube rack clamps and tube. Will do some measurements, but wondering if some of the T or corner brackets for 2020 or 4040 aluminum extrusion builds would have holes in the right place so I don't need to fab my own. Probably won't line up close enough, but I have 6061 sheet that will work otherwise.

There seem to be 2 holes on each of the chain stays on the back, those look great for a tail box mount, but what are those used for normally?

Is there any old documentation on build for the older framesets? Seeing some of the old assembly videos and various posts on here, not sure if I'm missing a good resource anywhere.

This is 8 years old and should be applicable. I'm also in the middle of T50 building process with perhaps the same old frameset as yours (bought from @DavidCH ) https://forum.cruzbike.com/threads/t50-gen1-frameset-for-sale.16420/#post-190610
In my case it will be config with the Shimano Alfine 8, 26" wheels and hydraulic brakes. I have bought already brakes, modified steering tube and waiting for the wheel set that is in build, because it's impossible to buy in Europe 26" with the Alfine hub. There's also 150mm Goldix crankset mounted already. I love Croder set in my S40 but T50 will go with cheaper option, we will see if it will be ok in a longer time perspective.

I decided to go with engineering plastic for the side steering adapters. Some PPA-HF filament has properties that far exceed what is needed for the handlebar mount and looks great. This is allowing me to build in the spacing without washers on the inside. Will be doing some destructive tests before trusting it to ride and replace with 6061 if needed.

I went with a cheap 170 crank set to see how it is. I'm 6'4" and always ridden with 175. I'm reading that shorter helps a bit with MBB design.
I now have 0, 20, and 40 mm post to IS adaptors and will play with how that makes things work. Trying for 180 front and 160 rear. See data on 160 for both but not sure if that is with a "normal" 20mm adapter or with a 0mm. Will have 180 discs in today to play around.

Running Deore CenterLock hubs with 8-10(11) freehub. 36 spoke to Velocity Cliffhanger rims. I love solid worry free wheels. As I could see mid and rear rack on this thing for touring. (And the prebuilt price was too good to pass up.)

For my steering tube, I got a cheap lightweight 7075 seatpost that is 28.6 and cut it down a bit. Then bonded inside the 31.8 aluminum tube. This gives me a little extra strength to the clamps and a more common 28.6 mount for stems. Used a little of the curve to go into the seat as a natural stress release point down the tube. Using circular file to scar the inside of the tube and also making groves in the seat post, then alcohol cleaning them and bonding with JB Weld. The overall bond is long enough that I don't worry about aluminum oxide de-lamination propagating far enough to cause any issues.

It amazed me how heavy the steel vertical steerer tube was after removing. Just used a seatpost shim in place there. Not worried to much on weight with this build as I'm dropping 1.5 lb a week with current process of getting back fit and watching diet.

Would live the clean internal hub design, but hill around us would likely need a full Rohloff.
