Any recommendations for faster tires for my S40.
Thanks.Continental GP5000’s are probably the best combination of low rolling resistance with reasonable flat protection - especially when run tubeless.
I’ve also used a dynaplug to great success to fix holes that are too large for sealant alone. In fact, I used two of them to plug a very large hole. Taking off the tire and installing a tube is an absolute last resort and in fact I’ve never had to do it.+1 on any of the GP5000 tubeless. Depending on your wheels they are probably more difficult to mount, but the sealant just works on all of the small punctures without you even knowing. If your roads are quite clean I would even say the tubed version of the GP5000 are the bees knees.
Here is what I do. I use the 4 hands needed at home to mount GP5000TL tires on my wheels, add sealant and ride without worry. However, if I get a puncture large enough that the sealant doesn't work, I remove the tire, dump out the sealant, roll it up and put it in my tailbag. Pull out the tubed GP5000 and a tube and install those because it is easy to mount the tubed version while outside. Also, I can just use the regular hand pump to inflate the tube, instead of hoping that I can get the tubeless tire to inflate, which often requires a blast of air to get the beads to seat. Just in case I get a puncture on the tubed tire, I carry a small box of about 10 glueless patches and a small piece of sandpaper.
Thanks for reminding me. I put the Lezyne plug kit in my bag but forgot about it because I haven't had to use it yet lol. Which reminds me that I gotta put some snips in my bag to cut the "bacon strips".I’ve also used a dynaplug to great success to fix holes that are too large for sealant alone.
